Ah ****, I see what you mean now The owners from York, so what d'ye expect. I'll have to tell him to fix his menu 'cos half of East Yorkshire are taking the piss !! The bugger can't even spell York I think I need some new specs to boot.
Thousnds died of freezing conditions during poorly organised evacuation by the Nazi regional leader Karle hanke in Jan 1945, the city was then besieged by the Soviets and around 40,000 perished. Apparently the city lay in ruins but its in great condition now with many historic buildings (including the fantastic Rathusz) still standing. The Soviets took the city two days before the end of the war and it became part of Poland under the Potsdam agreement. in 2015 it was voted among the best cities to live by Mercer consulting in 2015 so it's recovered very well. It has also just hosted the World Games which were on whilst we were there.
If you're on a Stag you'll be mostly interested in the beer which is really cheap - I like the 'Amber' beer. You can try the 'old Polish vodka' if you dare, it's not my thing. Great setting for a long weekend though, also loads of little Jazz clubs, they're into that. Rock too as Red Hot Chilli Peppers played Crocovia FC stadium whilst we were there
No signs of bomb site cinemas and the damage sustained in the war being used for failings 70 years later. And most of Wroclaw's improvenents have been done in the last 25 years as it wasn't exactly a fun place in communist times. Krakow was lucky, it was one of the few Polish cities not devastated in the war. Now it is being spoilt, as Prague and other places have been, by hordes of uncultured stag and hen parties descending on it.
Attending the Humber Street Sesh apparently. This was announced even before the news about the new radio contract. Mike White is covering City for Humberside tomorrow.
I didn't necessarily mean commentary, I assume Humberside can still broadcast live score updates etc can't they? Burnsy mentioned it the other day that Mike White was covering the Villa game. He loves the Humber Street Sesh so he may have already agreed to miss this one OR he already knew about the Viking deal but couldn't let on. Either way he definitely said Mike White was doing the City game - perhaps he means from the studio in Hull!
They've known they weren't doing commentaries for weeks now (probably months), he'd have been there if they were. Humberside can't report live from the game, they can just give score updates etc, though they'll be doing their normal pre-match build-up and post-match phone in.
They can do all the stuff they did before, other than commentaries and the manager/player interviews immediately after a game. Home and away, makes no difference.
I'm taking a punt on the home club automatically makes space for the away club's "official" broadcaster in their facilities, and anyone else would have to apply individually on a match-by-match basis, if permitted. I've no idea how feasible that would be (eg cost, anti-compete clauses with the club and Viking, etc).
apologies in case this has already been covered, but will the Viking commentary be the one they broadcast via the official website?
I haven't looked into this particular case but I've no idea why that would be the case. If Villa allow Humberside to attend in a media capacity and give updates from the game then what can City do about it?
Again - taking a guess that when they were they "official" club broadcaster, the Beeb got a payment from them for providing the Tiger player commentary, and the admin was relatively low as they just rolled up at each away ground. Without that income, the cost and admin of applying for permission and then sending a full broadcast team to each away match may be exceeding the Humberside Sport budget.
Budget is an entirely different point. And just as an aside there's no cost in applying to attend in a media capacity - the host club either allow you to attend or don't, simple as that.
