As well as Robert Hardy, we lost actor Hywel Bennett as well today. He was the star of Shelley in the early 80's. I loved the show so much that I named a cat after his character http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-40814843
My current cat was called Mercedes in the rescue centre. I really didn't want to call out "Mercy, Mercy" to get her in so she's called Poppy instead
I am so tired. At 11.45pm last night an oak tree decided it had had enough of swaying in the wind and fell very noisily onto my car, Mr WS's car, our hedge and next doors car. It had rotted at the bottom. We were up half the night as we couldn't sleep after that. We then spend the day getting the tree sorted out, tidying what is left of the garden and contacting insurance companies. So far tree is gone, council have admitted liability, 2 cars off to be mended and 1 courtesy car for Mr WS. Hoping that my hire car will turn up tomorrow. We were very lucky it fell the way it did and not on our houses. We live in a row of 6 houses whose inhabitants are now nervously eyeing the woodland right in front of us. Bring back the sunshine please.
Bless. Sorry to hear that Whiteley. When a tree fell through my fence at our old house and destroyed the kids swing, the council wouldn't cough up for us.
Well they've done everything they said they would so far. They got the tree removed and a man was out checking all the trees for most of today, digging and tapping at the roots. The guy we spoke to seemed genuine.
Torch Tower in Dubai has caught fire for the second time.....now thankfully put out. Perhaps they should consider a name change..
Yes, that wasn't lost on me either when I read about it last night. Thing is, they were able to put it out. It obviously isn't composed of materials that lead to a runaway fire.
Just ordered a brochure from a Canadian firm....had to choose my county from a list....the Isle of Wight wasn't listed so had to pick Hampshire Not sure I'll book through them....on principle.
