Imagine how much money you would have got, if you put a bet on when Di Marzio said it about a month a go?
Here's a puzzle....unless you guys know differently. The Sunderland manager is saying they can't compete for transfers with other Championship sides...they haven't the money. They've just been demoted and also will get umbrella payments....I can only assume it is their wage bill holding them back. Or are they in serious debt?
Pretty sure they have a lot of debt. I think I read somewhere recently that it is around £100m. The owner, Ellis Short, wants to sell but no-one is buying. Don't think that uncertainty will help them in trying to attract players either. In fact, the Guardian did a piece on it yesterday... https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/aug/03/football-sunderland-championship-simon-grayson [edited to include Guardian story]
I'm torn on Lallana....glad for Liverpool...pity he couldn't take Mane with him, but now my ire has diminished, I just remember he used to be one of ours. Yes, I will give myself a slap.
Oh dear, what a shame, never mind. We've all seen how ineffective he can be, when his fitness isn't at it's best, and how slow he can be at reaching his peak fitness, after time out injured. He may be fit in two months, but not properly fit until January, unless he picks up another injury in the meantime. Liverpool saw it for themselves when he first went there and, iirc, the fans were on his back pretty sharpish. How's Sturridge doing?
