None of the money is getting reinvested anyway so I couldn't give a **** about the fee, it's kinda irrelevant. Another player who would have caused upset in the squad if he'd hung about.

That's assuming he would tear up the Championship, from what I've seen of him he'd be more likely to phone in his performances in protest at being forced to stay, similar to what we're seeing from Kone. If he had an attitude to match his ability we'd have easy got 15 mil for him but he ain't.

While you are right in what you are saying, we also can't afford to keep buying big and off-loading players on the cheap coz the player has spat the dummy out

We have to play hard ball here and get a fair price

Who knows mate but judging by his performances pre season he knows its in his best interests to show what he can do in order to get a move.
Kones obviously just abit too dumb to realise that.

    It's 5 million euros. That's 4.5 million quid.

Just need Kone to **** off now.

I don't think the big offer is coming though, there's always a chance but it probably won't. We're still paying for past mistakes but there aren't many left to correct now the likes of Lens are leaving.

    ....ala Kone? No thanks.

He is poisonous to the dressing room, so just get shot of him and free up his wages. Shorts just gonna pocket the fee anyway, so he can ****ing stick it, the kernt.

Poor deal in my opinion. Not the first by any means but I have a feeling we wont see too many in the future if Grayson sticks around.

Think about the wage saving as well, makes sense to get shot even at a loss.

Hopefully opens up a few quid.

Unlikely. If we're not seeing £30m from Pickford then we're not seeing £4m from Lens.

I was relating it to the wage bill, and supposedly Grayson agreed the sale to bid for Hugill.

That won't be enough for Hugill imo. Grayson valued him himself at 6m last season. I think they'll hold him to that and he won't be coming to us.

I suppose we valued Lens at 10 mil and let him go for half that, who knows how much other teams need the money.

Be surprised if we got McCormack and Hugill in all honesty having already signed Vaughan and Grabban.

We were light up top last season
Defoe borini lens gone and kasri nearly gone that's four gone
Vaughn brabben in that's only two
We need more options up front.

Exit confirmed: Sunderland agree sale of Jeremain Lens to Besiktas for an undisclosed fee
The long anticipated sale of Jeremain Lens to Besiktas has finally been confirmed. The Dutchman leaves Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

Dutch winger Jeremain Lens, as expected, has left the club in order to join Turkish champions Besiktas.

In this video on his new club's offical Twitter account, Lens takes part in a video with their other new recruit Alvaro Negredo, saying that he is 'coming to Besiktas'.
The 29-year-old exits the Stadium of Light for an undisclosed fee just over two years since he originally signed for the Black Cats from Dynamo Kyiv for £11m with add-ons on top.

Lens only made 20 appearances in total for Sunderland. After initially featuring under Dick Advocaat when he first arrived on Wearside, the Dutchman fell out of favour once the veteran coach had departed the Stadium of Light.
Dropped by Sam Allardyce after he refused to take part in a post-match warm down, Lens only featured in 12 games under Big Sam for Sunderland.
Amidst continued suggestions that coaching staff were unhappy with his attitude, Lens would then be allowed to leave on loan to link back up with Advocaat at Fenerbahce last summer.
And from there the winger proved to be a big hit in Turkey with five goals and seventeen assists as Fenerbahce finished in third place in the Super Lig. Recalled to the Netherlands national side, Lens has also made a couple of appearances for Holland since rediscovering his form in Istanbul.

Since the end of that loan agreement last month, Lens returned to pre-season training with Sunderland and continued his renaissance with four goals in the Black Cats summer friendlies.
Technically Jeremain Lens will be categorised as another big-money flop for a club with a dismal recent history of losing money hand over fist on transfer business.
But the mercurial Dutch winger’s short stint back on Wearside this summer proved he possessed all the ability in the world, it was simply that, as has been so often the case, the mismanaged muddle that is Sunderland AFC were unable to make the most of him.
Oh, and it shouldn’t be forgotten that his attitude during that first season here was pretty rank.
Lens returned to Sunderland this summer set on ensuring he stayed fit and his application and performances in a red-and-white shirt in pre-season kept him in the public eye.
Turkey was the only place he was ever likely to return to. Previous suggestions that he might fancy signing for a Dutch club were always improbably due to the salary levels in the Eredivisie.
Ultimately, as is so often the case, Sunderland have lost a packet on him.
