If things go tits up with Ba, should Best get to start in his place?

Best IMO is the best proven striker in the squad.

I don't even know why Ameobi gets a start ahead of him. Ameobi is decent in the air, but he doesn't win nearly enough for his height.

Best and ****ing Obertan were the most effective players in the air vs Arsenal.

Best should get his chance. Best is strong, has decent ball control and agility, and has proven he can score a decent amount. Plus he wins much more than Shola and Best can channel his strength to his advantage.

If we want a player to knock things down for Ben Arfa, Jonas and Obertan, Best looks like the right player to do that, plus he isn't slow.

I also think that if Obertan proves himself he should get a start some time soon. He looks a lot like Jonas, except stronger and he can win things in the air. From his Man Utd highlights he looked weak as a pint of piss, but against Arsenal he he looked quite strong.

Possible line up in the foreseeable future??

I swear whenever Tash bigs up a player he always talks about 'agility'. He's obsessed!

I mention everything about a player. Best is better than Ameobi at all most everything. Ameobi is a cracking finisher but his overall play is ****. If he just had the stamina and the hard working mentality he could score 15+ goals a season.

He didn't have to work in the CC and defenses weren't much of a challenge for him that's why he scored like 11 goals in 11 games.

 

what happened to best in the championship then??

But in fairness I agree with Tash on this one, Obertan showed great skill and strength in his appearence against arsenal and Ba/Shola were terrible also playing 5 in midfield helps us more in defense, would be happy to see that line up with Best up top !

I still think you're judging Best too early - he only had one run of games last season, granted he was very good but that might have just been a purple patch. Ameobi's been around for over a decade and over 10 managers have deemed him good enough so there obviously must be something about him.

 

Honestly find this Best love prety weird he has been hopeless everywhere he has been, had couple good games last year.... he only played 10.

 

I completely bloody agree! Obertan looked class against Arsenal, so much pace! And Best can score it's proven, we NEED to drop Amadonkey!

he tried hard though. I agree he needs a bit more time to prove himself but at least the potential and the effort is there

 

What about the great amount of games Shearer played for Southampton and didn't score a goal? Not saying Best is the next shearer, but don't blast your mouth to soon, like these people hating on us signing a goalkeeper..

 

I cant change my mind, even if he scores 30 this season il say it was fluke, and bring up some coventry stats when he scored none, my eyes are blinkered!! haha
