Well I had a go, but got 5 minutes in and I'd had enough of Benedict Cumberbatch's cod U.S. accent. Yes indeed, our Brits are perfectly capable of doing a Dick Van Dyke in return and I think BC achieved it there.
Yes his American accent is.....ordinary! Funnily enough I watched a film called Black Mass the other night (Johnny Depp playing Jimmy 'Whitey' Bulger, the Boston gangster) and again BC is playing an American. Great actor, but that's really not his strength.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/af...-giant-tortoise-escapes-Japan-zoo--again.html Giant tortoise has escaped for the 2nd time from a Japan zoo. Anyone who has ever had a tortoise will know they are the most stubborn animals alive....you can turn them round as many times as you like, they just sigh patiently and turn round and set off again. Keeping a dog or rabbit in your garden is easy...a tortoise will be several gardens away before you've finished a cup of tea.
In 1965 me and my little bro were bought a tortoise each - they're still going strong - living with my parents in Gloucester. We also inherited a tortoise from my Auntie Kitty in Totton that was born in the 1800s that only died about 10 years ago! A tortoise really is for life!
In just about everything, from Elizabeth R to Harry Potter, from The Spy Who Came In From The Cold to Foyle's War, as well as probably his most famous role as Siegfried Farnon. One of the true acting icons of our time. RIP Robert Hardy
I also saw 4 wild tortoises in southern Serbia last week whilst walking through the mountains - boring but true
Sadly, my Tortoise died the first winter. We moved house and I think the move disturbed his hibernation. It was 1976 and his name was Rodrigues, because my sister already had one called Pedro, hence me naming mine the way I did
Ours get packed in a box of hay in November and put in the garage. The box is left undisturbed until March and then woken up. Amazing!
From a TV programme, raccoon dogs (found in East Asia) are the only dogs that hibernate. And are only one of two dogs who can climb trees.
One of the truly great actors. Could have been as successful as he wanted to be. Just chose what he wanted rather than chase fame and fortune. Could have been a professional historian of real standing, just chose not to. It was his hobby. I think he just did things that he enjoyed, and that helped to make him one of the nicest people.
