I know we were interested in Ings once upon a time, but he has knees made of glass. Barkley would be too much money all in I'd say, considering he hasn't ever really delivered. But then Redmond hardly lit things up even though everyone knew he had great potential. Although he only cost a snippet of what Barkley would I would imagine.
The only club I could see giving Barkley a step up is spurs - purely because poch might fancy it. Not sure where else he goes other than sideways. We would be sideways along with west ham and maybe west Brom I cannot think of anyone else. Probably we wouldn't match his demands though let alone the price tag. But he fits our model of type of player
Sticking point with Spurs is that they don't seem willing to pay his £120,000 a week wage demands, which is fair enough.
I'd take Barkley all day long. Madness to sniff at that seeing as we desperately need someone like him. If we can get him focussed there's a cracking player there. Completely irrelevant though as I don't see it happening.
One of the porblems though, is that we are now at our 25-man limit ... we probably can't sign anyone till we get rid of some (Gazza, Gardos, Clasie ... would be my picks to bring those positions in)
Are you counting players like Targett, Sims etc. Because you shouldn't. Besides we can still sign players and leave the likes of Gardos out of the 25 man squad.
Christ who do you expect us to sign? Messi? Ronaldo? Dybala? I think you need to lower your expectations somewhat. Barkley is a very good player.
At the moment, we have: Forster, Taylor, McCarthy, Gazzaniga (4) Cedric, Pied (6) VVD, Stephens, Yoshida, Gardos (10) Bertrand, McQueen (12) Davis, Romeu, JWP, Hojberg, Clasie (17) Redmond, Tadic, Boufal (20) Long, Austin, Gabbiadini, Gallagher (24) Ok, I make that 24, but still not much room to manouevere ... doesn't make financial sense to leave them out the 25-man squad though, so I can imagine we're trying to avoid that happening.
