Him 'refusing' to play is just a tactic to try and get a move. Of course he's going to play if he's still here after the transfer window closes.

 

This. This is his next move to force through a move. The last thing he can do is tell Saints he won't play when the window is shut either (whether he plans to or not) and see if they blink first. It is all part of the modern football transfer game

Agreed on the tactic front from vvd, however, I'd have a massive issue with him dislodging gave rapidly improving Stephens or Mr Southampton through and through Yoshi just because of the date on the calendar.

If Saints are making a stand against Virgil, they will need to make it clear that that he needs to have a massive change in attitude and make a very humble apology to the board, players and fans, this combined with getting his head down and training hard.

If he had refused to play then we wouldn't have to pay him. He has clearly said he doesn't want to play which is different. I think we should call his bluff and pick him to play.

 

I don't think Mauricio wants to waste time on him....he has more serious concerns. Virgil is a distraction and is a matter for Les and the board....not a manager who is trying to work out his team.

 

Our new managers always get a tough start don't they. First couple of weeks they must be wondering what they signed up for.

And whilst I will never forget his part in our rise through the leagues, for me his memory will always be tainted by his behavior last season.
