Packing day today. Off in a small cruise ship to see the cities around the Baltic tomorrow. Hope it's drier than the last couple of days here...the cities not the sea!
Morning all, off today with my daughter to collect her new/newish car. No rain expected so she should not get her indicators mixed up with her wipers. I came across this is on the BBC website which made me think of allo, allo. It was a survey of your Brit abroad and how they managed with different languages. 56% resorted to pointing at menus 45% relied on the assumption that all locals would speak English 42% spoke English more slowly and loudly 15% even tried speaking English in a foreign accent A minority (15%) admitted to being so unwilling to try pronouncing words from other languages that they would only eat in British or fast food restaurants while overseas, rather than sampling local cuisine. One of the joys of travel to me is trying out local dishes. We once did a grand tour of France and only tried local dishes from the menus. Only once did we find ourselves with something we didn't like.

Good morning all from a warm and dry Weston-super-Mare. Wide awake and can't get back to sleep Have a good day!
Back home after a nice round trip, marred by pissing blood but that seems sorted now and was only *minor, supposedly. Back to work Monday, grim. How have you fellow hornets been?
Really getting hot down here in Cadiz. Next week forecast a max of 36C. But not as bad as other parts of southern Europe with 44C. See Canary-Dave that you are getting up earlier everyday. Soon you will be able to slip a day and cheat father time. Mexican no good you going to work. Too much tension building up in your blood as the days reduce to the kick off. Have another couple of weeks. You know it makes sense. Well enjoy all. For me a swim with the wife then the test match (TMS of course). Cheers
Morning all, while temperatures rise further south, I am pleased we have moderation with the heat in middle France. This is one of the busiest weekends for travelers on the autoroutes, with large delays at the toll booths. Watching the French news interviewing some who had stopped in the picnic areas, they all seemed pretty relaxed about it, know what to expect. Just pull over, take a rest for a while. Have something to eat and drink, then carry on. You will get there in the end.
Morning all from a sunny Jersey. For the second test in a row, the Saturday morning teaching zone has someone from Middlesex - McCullum and Vettori. I'm glad to see they've been wearing Middlesex clothing. Vettori is able to do that this morning as he's the Middlesex T20 coach this year, and their next match is in the County Championship. Earlier this morning, I was watching Vintage TV and they were showing songs from musicals. When they showed "Music of the Night" from Phantom, as it's a solo by Michael Crawford, but Sarah Brightman is in the video, every time the camera focused on her I was wishing that she would start singing "I lost my heart to a starship trooper", even though I know she doesn't.
That is so sad ,Its not about the game today its about being there for the great man .Maybe we dont have 15k over 30s .This is the one time that the man is bigger than the club
