Poor article, especially saying it's damaging morale. As far as I can see the morale is very high without Van Dickhead. Of course the simple minded apes in Liverpool are lapping it up though.

Why on earth do scousers believe only what their football manager tells them? Why is it that when someone else says the same thing, albeit using different words, why they think it doesn't mean the same thing? Is it because Les used bigger words perhaps? Or a different language altogether?
The words were clear enough to us and it seems to most other teams fans as well. So why not to you scousers?

 

Why do Southampton fans act like it's something personal or specific against your club. If your club respected the words "not for sale" so much you would never have signed Mane on deadline day.

The main difference is that in our case (Coutinho) the manager himself specifically stressed he is not for sale. In your case it's not the manager but just "club officials" doing it, which means it's likely they could just be trying to increase the fee since their job doesn't depend on their word being respected like the manager's does.

Club say he is not for sale, new manager says he has been assured he is not for sale.

He is not for sale. he may go, but he is not for sale. He is not in the shop window, he is not for sale. I repeat, he may go but he is not for sale. Not sure how clear we can be?

For example, my house is not for sale. Lived here for 20 years and love it and got it just as i want and mortgage free. It is not on the market, not for sale. If a person wants to approach me and offer me a ridiculous amount of money, perhaps I'll move, but it doesn't mean the house is for sale.

One last time. We have said he is not for sale, but he may go.

 

Not sure on your policy, but at Saints the manager doesn't have any final say in transfer dealings. So not sure why you're bothered about MP coming out and saying VVD isn't for sale. Our 'club officials' carry more weight when it comes to players being bought or sold - like when they said Schneiderlin was not for sale... and he wasn't sold.

Without wishing to reinforce the stereotypical view of the red Merseysiders, perhaps their concept of 'Not for Sale' does not preclude taking things anyway, although the concept of asking permission to relieve someone/some entity (eg another Football Club) of possessions may not be uppermost in their thoughts. Would it help if we simply screwed VVD's feet to the ground? Probably not

I can't be arsed to go back through the thread so may be duplicating an opinion already shared but Neymar to PSG would seem to have a somewhat pivotal bearing on this saga. Barca will force PSG to pay a huge sum up front. They will presumably use this to prise Coutinho away (for sale or not) with a silly fee that we will then take a colossal chunk out of. Not a situation I'd have thought of before.
