Don't you think if a player could secure a better move or a bigger contract the agent would be well on the case already? Or do you think Harry Redknapp might see we're interested in someone on @footballagentITK twitter and think "****ing hell pat if he's available I'd better gazump hulls offer"
That's not how it works. What he should have done is send an email to the sun and ask them who's available, who's under offer etc. Wtf would an agent know?
What's the difference? If we put an offer in, how do you know the agent didn't get on the phone to another club who might have previously shown an interest and tell them what's been offered? My point was that doing things on the quiet is often the best way to work. Letting out details, however they get out, complicates things. Your example of Harry Redknapp, while crude and ****, probably does happen at some level, perhaps not through twitter, but if it becomes well known that a player is looking for a move or a player has had a bid lodged, it might prompt others into acting. Not everything is always run through agents, given their reputation in the game. That said, are you certain that at no point a club has heard something like this, picked up the phone and contacted the player's agent?
I have no idea why the fact that Burnley had a bid accepted for Snodgrass was leaked to the press, we should have known we could have just left it to Snodgrass's agent to go to West Ham and tell them to stump up the cash. Silly us. Palace had a bid accepted for Brady as well, I have no idea why that was leaked to the press to force Burnley's hand.
Abels agent must have really pissed Villa off last time around........ "Aston Villa were last night strongly linked with a move for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez. Within a few hours of the rumour mill whirring into life - Dr Tony Xia shut it down. The rumour started via a journalist working for Uruguayan radio station Tirando1010" Roughly translated, Nico Pirri stated: #Uruguayos | Abel Hernandez will sign with #AstonVilla will be Terry's teammate. Comes from #Hull Villa wanted the player last summer but spent their money elsewhere after failing to thrash out a £20m deal. Villa's owner moved quickly to dispel any such deal taking place in this transfer window. He stated: "Never will happen after last summer. Good for us." And that, is the end of that!
Good. If body language is anything to go by thenAbel is definitely staying here. Appears well motivated and looks happy and hungry for it on the pitch. Fingers crossed he does stay. It'd be great to see him and FC tear it up
Slutski's latest interview talks about wanting 5 more players. But by the sounds of it it'll be loans and freebies.. Asked if he expected business in the coming days, Slutsky added: “Before Saturday, yes, maybe one or two. But we need five more (new signings). We have three more loan options and absolutely we will have five loan players (including Aina and Hector). Maybe that is like the cherry on the cake at the end of the transfer window. There will be some good players who are not playing in the big teams. “Maybe we are waiting for one or two loan options at the end of the window. We want three loan players and then two more, either buy or free agents like Fraizer Campbell. We want five more altogether.” Thats absolute madness if you ask me.. a club thats sold the majority of its players and has parachute payment money is only looking to sign players on loan or a free?
Stark contract to Grosicki. I actually think Abel gets a lot of unfair stick, apart from his niggling injuries and sulking when he gets subbed, he's actually surprised me with his willingness to stay, despite what his agent says.
Time and again people make the error of confusing us with a club who has owners with on-pitch ambitions.
Didn't we agree to let him go and then he demanded some ridiculous wage like £70k a week or something so they ****ed him off? I know it's PLT and Hernandez again and I'm not allowed to say it, but it really baffles me that someone like Tymon can be called a greedy **** (I know it's only the nutters on here that say it but still) while Abel seems to be constantly looking for a move away and very rarely gives 100%.
Sunderalnd have lost ten first team players and will today make their seventh signing, they're not as short as we are.
That's simply not true, his agent is always looking for a move but there's no lack of application when he's playing.
I was addressing the point of paying little to no fees. If they've made one (soon to be two) more signings than us, and we're expecting 1-2 before Villa it's not too dissimilar. We've only lost 9 first team players haven't we?
