I see TRAP have caught another nonce. One who has already served time previously for it too. For some reason *****phile hunters do seem to divide opinion, I think they do a brilliant job personally
I was fixing up my mate's car, and he asked me to put a spoiler on the back of it. So I carved into the boot - 'Bruce Willis is a ghost in The Sixth Sense'.
At this time of year the great and good like to come to Mallorca. At the moment God's footballing son is here with his partner and two children, sunning himself while his team-mates take on Barcelona in the USA. Uum!! Also on the island is Annie Lennox who has a house very near Esporles. The other night she was at El Passeig, one of the bars here on the main street. You would not have known a world famous singer was sat at a table for nobody could be seen pestering her. No entourage! Nada!!
Australia police have foiled a plot to blow up a plane. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-40766858
I know this is Cricket related , and I know I have posted it on the Cricket thread . If you love a good wind up , listen to this . http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05b5j5t
University Challenge. Saints 280 Cardiff 40 at the gong. Average age 20, you can't win anything with kids.
Interesting that Kevin Myers comes out with an apology to Vanessa Feltz and Claudia Winkleman: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-40790195 I've always been the type of person to give people the benefit of the doubt if they've erred for the first time, to my knowledge. And Mr Myers seems genuinely contrite here. He says he has trouble with summarising important issues with throwaway lines. His professional career is over, he says. I would probably agree there as, on first impression, he doesn't seem to have the profile that allows him to bounce back. Thing is, we live in a world where many, so-called, professionals deal with important issues with throwaway lines. It's endemic in social media and it is crossing to the professional media because the lines have become blurred. And it's a dangerous direction in which social and political comment is taking. So much so that the western world has a tweeter and TV presenter, cum bankrupted, but successful businessman as a US president. That's where we're heading, and where we're at so far. Everyone is a 'professional', whether they are qualified to comment or not.
I think it is a sad thing when a throwaway line means the permanent end of a career...being sacked...OK....but he hasn't killed anyone. There are many true racists out there...is this guy one of them? What about that member of a black university group who has come out and said dreadful things about every white person on the planet and encouraged violence...now there's someone who should be chucked out of university. There is no way that tirade was a slip of the tongue. Don't know this journalist, so don't know what he is really like....but people are too quick to be judgemental. He who is without sin...etc.
I agree. People like that Alex Jones** bloke. I wouldn't give him a chance to air his views. It's too disruptive to society. We don't live in a mature and educated enough world yet where we can encourage those kinds of idiots. Actually, if we did, they also would be educated and would realise their former ignorance, so wouldn't have such views. Circular argument. **I'm actually slightly ashamed of myself for even knowing his name. Didn't need to look it up either. It means he's got his message across to me at some point, whether I agree with him or not.
My gf has slowly been introducing me to the Marvel cinematic universe. I'd watch a bit but since meeting her, I've watched more Marvel films than in the rest of my life combined. This week we watched Iron Man 3, The Avengers and Thor 2. I think we're planning to watch Captain America 2 next. Loki is awesome. Though I think Iron Man is my favourite Avenger.
Have to admit that the Marvel film franchise is very well done, but I've seen very few bar most of the X-Men series. I did see both Captain America films which I enjoyed unexpectedly, and Ant-Man was iffy, but a fairly OK. I thought Wonder Woman really showed what the DC franchise could do, despite Zack Snyder being involved as a producer and writer. Make him the director, as in Watchmen, Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and you get an absolute visual treat but a slow moving story. Too slow for my tastes. It isn't classic drama, it's a comic on film.
