No. Just quoting what you wrote. More a case of you not expressing yourself correctly.

How about at the end of next season?

For most of the summer talkSPORT have been trumpeting that they now have exclusive national commentary rights to all football league games (Champ, L1, L2) in addition to the Prem they already had. They've been talking up providing commentary to every single game live all season.

In fact their live game on talkSPORT 1 this Saturday on the flagship Matchday live is Aston Villa v Hull City.

I'd have thought the Viking deal was local only as the national radio rights are sold collectively.

I was hoping the talkSPORT deal was for international rights too (as it is for the EPL) but it looks like its not.

The issue is not 'I don't rate Burns & Swan', the issue is moving from a world famous broadcaster renowned for its quality and expertise, to a minor local commercial concern, and the warped thinking behind the move.

It's the type of thing Martin Fish used to do with David Bond when the questions or opinions became uncomfortably close to the truth.

But comparing Ehab Allam to Martin Fish is like comparing a spotty young lab assistant to Sir Stephen Hawking in terms of leadership and managerial expertise.

Yes, he's that bad and he's strangling our club.

It also sends a message out to other media platforms doesn't it. HDM/ Yorkshire post etc have little choice but to jump on the propaganda machine.
Maybe the way forward for any protests should be targeting Radio Viking and those who advertise on there?

Viking are already getting plenty of protesting on social media
At the start of the thread I felt sorry for them actually, thinking it wasn't their fault and they have a radio station to run why so wouldn't they try to expand
...that was until I saw them refer to us as 'Hull Tigers' on their own announcement !

It's going to be pro allam 100%
There is no way they got this deal otherwise
So there will be no questioning the allams at all, won't be phones in with anyone against the owners

Swanny was an idiot but i'd rather listen to him
    Plus again, the adverts..

Look on the bright side, another opportunity for protest has just been opened. Social media campaign against Viking and it advertisers. Even better would be some pictures of the we are Hull City a club not a brand banner outside their offices. Two people walk past holding the banner, one on the other side of the street takes the pictures. Nice story for radio Humberside may get on local BBC news and in the HDM.

So we're definitely going with the fatty burns was Woodward and Bernstein rolled into one and they've done this to stop him as his investigative journalism was too uncomfortable for them...

But this goes on all the time, I heard an interview with Robbie Savage once he said when he did press conferences he'd only take questions from the journalists he liked because some of the others had wrote critical pieces or misquoted him in the past. Its the same for many different sportsmen, actors, musicians...etc, there's absolutely no reason for them to help out journalists that are going to cross them.

Whilst obviously we all hate the Allams, this is common sense on their part, its no secret that the BBC deal does very little for the club financially and now they are criticising them as well. Why not negotiate a better deal with a commercial station and at the same time avoid negative press?

No Chazz, and I think you are allowing Burnsy's stupid comments that you have mentioned on here quite a few times (and I absolutely agree with your view on that) to colour your overall thinking. If anyone is in any doubt, Ehab is simply applying a 'control the media, control the message' philosophy. We are seeing this already with Viking's use of Hull Tigers/Hull City Tigers. Can you not see the problem with this?

After last year's clusterfuck and some evidence of it happening again - which you have noted on here too, would you prefer that Ehab is not or never held to account? A straight up question!

If you seriously think that Viking will do this, think again.

I think the point is that the Allan's can't cope with even Burnsy's relatively mild and slightly shambolic questioning. But the thing with Humberside is that they are under the umbrella of the BBC charter and have values of community service, public interest and impartiality. Pissing them off is quite remarkable really.

Of course Viking are going to take up the offer of the media access, they have a commercial company to run, so far I can't blame them because from their perspective it brings new listeners. But it will be interesting to see how the whole "Hull Tigers" thing goes. If they get howls of anger every time they use it, are they going to stop? Or are they going to protect their juicy new contract and keep ploughing on?

Personally I favour the howl of anger approach. Every time they use the abomination "Hull Tigers" then tweet, phone in, email etc and correct them. If they have a phone in it would be very funny if every single caller started with "It's Hull City AFC".

Whether its a better deal depends on the listening figures. Viking will lose part of its audience when City are on. Humberside will keep part of its audience when they would have been listening to City. Humberside audience is at least twice the size of Viking so less people will be listening to City matches then they did in the past.

But Humberside will still be able to bring score updates and conduct pre and post match interviews. Will they now use those opportunities to ask some more searching questions in the past? Doubtful, but you can live in hope.
