Suggestion that VVD may be integrated back into the team (lifted by the Express from the Daily Echo). The interesting point made is how will fans react. Morgan had a hissy fit and then accepted the situation and fans were okay with him as we wanted him to stay, but that was nothing like as bad a situation as it is with Virgil. I will be pleased to keep a player of his calibre (and sticking it up to Liverpool is a bonus), but it makes me feel uncomfortable that he will displace one of two loyal players. From a footballing point of view it is a no contest....but I am really unhappy that Maya will probably miss out here from a human being POV. And I think it will be Maya as Jack is the one with the real future here.*

*This is the point where one of you points out that Maya plays on one side and Jack on another...well<nahnah>

Virgil has quite the bridge to build again with the fans but returning to team training and even taking part in the friendlies will be a good start. I'll be disappointed for whoever gets dropped but at the end of the day this is football and if you now have your best player willing to be a part and put in a shift then he must play.

I thought of Virgil as a mercenary before all of this and I still do so my opinion on him hasn't changed. My opinion of Liverpool has got slightly worse which is quite an achievement considering where it was at.

I heard that we were going to extend his contract to ten years and at the end of it he buys and runs the Club.

Recent history has taught us, a loyal player is one that hasn't been offered a better deal elsewhere...

    Unfortunately this is true.

And let's not kid ourselves, it cuts both ways. Players have no loyalty to the club, and the club in turn has very little loyalty to a player - or manager - who becomes surplus to requirements.

The emotional attachment fans have to the club exists nowhere else in the professional game. It means we the fans are the ones who always get the rawest of deals, but no one is forcing us to keep turning up either.

Clubs may not show loyalty but they are still bound by the players contract. We have to keep playing until they agree to cancel the contract (trasnfer). So the player should keep playing until we agree to transfer the contract (transfer)

If it happens it's the action of a Southampton player not a Liverpool fan <ok>

Koeman is a good example of that . It seems to me he was happy to see out his contract with us , But no , we wanted more , so he walked . I don't blame him .

If (when) he does leave, just remember it was your own manager and club that wasted so much time that would have blatantly better been spent finding and incorporating a new player <ok>

Will do, but in the more likely event that he stays, remember that it was your own manager and club that wasted so much time on trying to sign two players whose clubs said many times that they would not sell, that would have blatantly been better spent finding and incorporating other targets.

Like little old Coutinho? I take it you feel the same about him desperately wanting away? Yeah.
