The one with the dog named Mummy on the canal was the best. I found Peep show unreliable. Some of the best comedy I've ever watched but also some not so funny episodes. When it's good it's really good. I wish there were more of it.
Yeah, there were a few episodes that were a bit meh. I think my favourite episode was the one where they celebrate christmas Special mentions to Alan and Super hans, they always make me laugh. Dobbo or Sophie would have made a great doctor who
Sophie actually was one of the people being rumoured to be in the running. I would have preferred her.
So Gost in the Shell. More visuals than the philosophical debate of the animation. Enjoyed it for what it was. It missed a trick or (I might have to watch back because I missed 15 minutes) didn't hammer home what could have been a good discussion. So anyone that has seen it. Was her characters original human Japanese? Same with the baddie that's not bad? If so...that line could have been played out in a very ironic but sophisticated way...the original was about identity and what constitutes a soul or person. By casting 2 white critters...if they had delved into that they were originally Japanese and the corporation thought white bodies were more attractive/superior it would have been better as a conversation about identity as they kinda gave up on the soul thing. Having said that...i find it hilarious that in the U.S. it was screamed at for appropriation but well received in Japan: their general criticism not who played the parts but that the guts of the story went missing....
Saw Dunkirk last night. 6 maybe max 7 out of 10. It boils down to some really and I mean ****ing really bad chi at end and the whole move is about Kenneth branagh taking of his hat and looking teary. I mean it guys... the first 3/4 of movie has this tension building background music constantly then one thing happens and we all wave out union jacks and sing rule Britannia.
It was ok, but not an 8 out of 10. Some acting was shocking, there were large swathes of the story missing like the actual desperate reargaurd action by the guards to keep Jerry out. You rarely if ever saw an enemy. Some of the aerial stuff was really brilliantly done then the ending let it down badly, it was Memphis belle with a touch of I think I can see the guys and holding the Spitfire model here. Obviously they shot a lot of it for realms using actual aircraft but they were refuted a gliding spit with no engine on so they did cgi. I noted also they never used more than one heinkel or one stuka at a time and max of 3 spitfires shown twice so they must have used actual planes. This hurt the danger a wee bit. The opening scene put a few stukas in playing suggesting some cgi. But you never felt the 300k men on the beach nor the danger enough. Each mini scene was good but overall it failed to show scale Then there was a deliberate lack of dialogue for long parts but the little boat crews coming in all doin what I can only call a Lenin pose on the boats never moving, heroically sailing into danger was a tad much. I would have preferred them doing their business.there was one woman on a boating a skirt and tights (of the day) doing the pose and she was ridiculous. As I said lots of really good stuff mixed in with what could only be described as poor fare. Thus 7/10 Heavily borrowing Hitchcock tension music for over an hour then the little boats arrive and break it and this is the entire catch, you cannot help but feel pride of course as the relief from the tension lifts. They basically cut from there to Harry styles on a train whining representing the stories of the time then getting some beers in the train window.a large part of the actual evacuation was missing.
2 was even better than 1. Not watched any more yet. Watched The Illusionist last night. Very enjoyable, if a tad predictable
Yeah The Illusionist was just a good enjoyable film but nothing special. Ozark has mixed reviews but I enjoyed 1&2 it's deffo one to watch and could get better, Bateman doing a cracking job and some of the scenes were quite brutal.
All the reviews, including Guardian, Telegraph and Empire were very good..Laura Linney's excellent and so is the young hillbilly
Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB both average and they are the big TV and film reviewers. I disagree at the moment though.
Game of Thrones pisses on Ozark. It is known Great episode on GoT. Spoiler Jon Targareyn put his aunty in her place
