All this talk of the Allams keeping money back in order to pay off the debt and sell the club for a lot less... Are we just guessing this is what they're doing? Is it possible they're keeping money back for themselves and still want top dollar for the club?
It's all assumption. People don't like the Allams so they assume the worst. We have no clue what they are doing because they don't tell us a bloody thing, so any guess as to their intentions is just that. It would make sense for them to get us back to the Premier League again, I can't see any other scenario that would enable them to be successful otherwise as they aren't the types to cut their losses and walk away with a failure. The telling thing for me is that Ehab said our budget would be 'competitive' and that the aim was 'to get back to the PL again'. I don't doubt that he's an arse, but he isn't going to give an interview like that and then not follow up, it wouldn't be good for 'his image' to lie in public, regardless of what's happened in the past. For what it's worth, I think we will see some money spent in this window, I just think they're relying more on Slutsky being a good manager and getting the best out of our players (bit like Brown did) rather than spending ****loads like Boro have on obviously good players. One is a more riskier approach than the other, obviously, but our approach would at least see stability in the future if we didn't go up, whereas Boro have gone all or nothing with no guarantee of promotion. So have Wolves, come to think of it. Money is no guarantee of success, Derby have found that out these last few seasons.
Regardless of which league we're in when they go? The council should arrange a parade when they've gone?
Interesting post. In our situation though we needed a few more,in by this weekend at the latest really due to lack of numbers. I still think we'll get them in but it makes slutsky job harder than it needs to be.
I think there's very little chance of them going while we have guaranteed income through parachute payments.
