Although I wouldn't disagree with most of your observations I thought the experience when in there was good. We had a load of beers locally and got a taxi in. Was good fun and the stadium itself I liked. Personally didn't feel like you were miles away.
It could have changed in fairness. My last qpr match there must have been seven or eight years ago and I was in the away end for a different game maybe four years back. Casino is nice.
Probably is the same tbf mate. It was a bit weird having the Wasps rugby badge in the stadium and it was depressingly empty due to all the politics they have at Coventry. I was in the away end too. Big **** up at Coventry. Never met more disillusioned fans.
Portman Road is another nothing sort of ground. Has history but is silent and no mystique about the place.
It's not like there's anything else to do in Ipswich either. I think the price there is what's killed it though. It's been bizarrely expensive as long as I can remember. Carrow Road would be good if it wasn't for the accent and "On the Ball City". A fine city.
Yeah, heard Norwich have a decent ground - I've been to the place a few times and liked it. I've only been to Portman Road once whilst at school as a mate had a spare ticket. Fun day travelling, **** game!
The FA made Bates remove those spikes as they were in contravention on Health and Safety rules. If it were up to Bates, the fences would have been electrified!
Least enjoyable is probably Stoke's. Ours wouldn't be that far ahead though if I were to stand in the shoes of an away fan. The best away day is Newcastle but the best away ground is The Emirates, it's a fabulous football stadium.
I think it's a fabulous stadium, the seating is great, facilities top notch etc, but the atmosphere is gash. The centre tier corporate level kills the atmosphere imo.
To be fair I've been once and it was that game where Welbeck scored with the last kick of the game. Thought the atmosphere from both sides was good that day.
I didn't think much to Old Trafford to be honest. It's obviously ****ing massive but the atmosphere was dead from the home end.
I prefer older grounds to new ones really. It's why I got the Bridge and WHL done in the past 2 seasons and why Everton is top of my list now. I did like the Emirates as an arena it's very impressive it just seems very sterile. When I went was the cup match last year so we had an allocation of 5.5k and I was in upper tier so had brilliant view. Have heard the view can be quite poor for a new stadium in the proper away end. Don't really like St Marys, just Leicester etc. with different colour seats. Villa Park near top of my list when they come back up, looking forward to Newcastle this year.
Yeah I found that very strange, especially where we had the upper tier as well so we had loads of corporates inbetween our away support.
Bates was a nasty foul **** of a man. Nothing to do with chelsea but he treated decent people who wanted to watch football like scum.
I agree to be honest. Never struck me as a nice person. Matthew Harding was the fan favourite, and he and Bates used to argue all the time about how to run the club, until that fateful chopper ride of course
