An intriguing if not overly exciting race. Can't help but wonder what would have happened had max not hit Danny early on. Both mcclarens in points and Alonso in 6th is brilliant... Fernando setting the fastest lap is astounding! Shows how much the PU let's down that car. Very good drive from Vettel in the circumstances. Thought Mercedes managed the swap back very well and were right to allow Lewis to have a go. Overall don't think they'll be too disappointed considering everything. Should be an interesting fight until the end which is good. Gutted for Di Resta.
At the same time, Bottas isn't terribly far adrift in the standings himself; his engine failure in Spain is basically the only reason he's not neck-and-neck with Vettel and Hamilton. Had they promised him the spot back and then reneged, he'd have rightfully been angry.
I got that, but I'd hey hadn't done the move, then Hamilton and Bottas would have been miles back and not even challenging. Sporting, but an odd one.
I don't particularly like team orders etc , but VB was told if Lewis could not get past KR , he would let VB back through , numpty he may be , but true to his word he is . So respect for that .
The field is opening up for a new US Tennis Open Champion with Djoko, Wawrinka and now Nishikori out for the rest of the year, Murray still affected by an on-going hip injury, which begs the question he needs to ask himself as to the favours he is doing, by continuing to play when he needs to get properly fit for next year. Nadal and Federer are the obvious favourites but as this tournament comes towards the end of a long season, it often provides a new champion as with Cilic a few years ago. As for the ladies, any from about 16 different choices could win.
I went to a local league Hurling game tonight. Incredible. I'd previously only been to Croke Park to see an All Ireland game with 60-70,000 people watching, but this was local league game with maybe 300 people watching. You could hear every whack and thump. It is an exciting sport which is a little bit crazy. I heard that someone once described it as a cross between hockey and murder. They weren't wrong.
Looking forward, as ever, to the Belgian GP this weekend. My money is on Kimi to win (and at 14/1 it's a handy bet). Charles Leclerc on pole in the F2 race by 0.6 of a second...
Proper track and usually bonkers weather. I remember the first time I went there going through the main gate and seeing Eau Rouge in the distance, thinking "eh? That can't be part of the track, it's way too steep..."
