Keep up! I wasn't even talking about him. The conversation had moved on to a general discussion about keeping our transfer dealings quiet / agents etc.
I know, I was talking about Le Fondre as a general comment. I highlighted your text which read "Marc-Antoine Fortune and Neil Danns used Hull City to get moves elsewhere." That isn't true at all, Danns was never interested in coming here and us and Celtic had bids accepted for Fortune, he had a straight choice between us and them. Ayala's agent undoubtedly publicised the move, and you can't blame him really, he only wants the best for his client, which is better money and a higher standard of football. Norwich provided that.
I disagree about Danns because it was clear we had been chasing him from the end of last season and comments from both Pearsons suggested they were fairly optomistic. Fortune and his agent kept us on the hook as long as possible until they got the right offer from Celtic. What I'm saying is that agents and players often use one club to start an auction and it is often us. So it would be better if agents knew our offer would only stand for a short period, then those who have no intention of coming here wouldn't waste our time and effort.
They haven't had a bid accepted, I was out to dinner with a Wendy last night, he said they bid £250k first and then upped it to £300k and neither was accepted and they were just praying that no-one else came in for him, as he's in the last year of his contract and Rotherham can't afford not to cash in. £400k might well be enough to get him, but it's a punt, there's a big gap between League Two and the Championship.
It is a big gap between the two divisions. But how many teams come up to the championship and just walk it straight away? All 3 promoted teams last year finished above us and the 3 this year are looking even better! If they can all perform at this level I don't see why our signings from lower leagues never can
We had 14 shots to Crystal Palace's 6 today and we still lost 1-0. After the deficiencies of our attack last season our most vital signing this season should have been at least one dangerous striker. Unfortunately all we got was Adebola. NP now needs to make this his most urgent priority because the bad results we are currently having are because teams are not scared of conceding goals against us and therefore have the luxury to attack at will.
