You've kind of contradicted yourself there, if you mean a keeper is a priority in terms of making a signing. The priority surely has to be more quality going forward - as I've said on another thread, the link with our scouts being at an Everton reserve game might have some truth to it, as they have a number of creative youth players in their ranks (Barkley, Vellios, Baxter, Wallace). I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of players drafted in before the Reading game next weekend, we're struggling for numbers at centre half and will be in desperate need of some attacking quality should we not improve at home to Palace (by the sounds of NP's interview, he's already frustrated with the lack of goals this season)
Not being funny, but if one of Cairney's parents or grandparents had died, why the **** was he even at the game?
His grandma died at least a week ago as his Facebook status on the 10th was rip grandma, so he's played at Ipswich since then. I suspect it was simply a groin injury as Nigel says it was.
That's what I mean. Why do we have to speculate about his dead relatives when he's injured anyway, has played since anyway and was at the game anyway?
I agree, its got nothing to do with anyone about dead relatives of any player, give them respect and time that they need. Anyway back on topic, I would sign Howard(as i have said on other threads) He is tall, and has the build and he already has a proven partnership with Fryatt.
We need a centre back to add numbers and Mr Allam has shown he is willing to spend up to £850,00 (maybe more?) on one if necessary (which it still is as we didn't get Ayala). We'll get a centre back before the window closes, probably on a permanent. If we can get another couple in the loan market I'll be delighted, because I'm really not convinced the squad is as bad as some people are making out. Give them time and the goals will come. I haven't heard anyone who actually went to the game yesterday say they didn't think we played well. We created more chances and had something like 15 corners.
I doubt there's many teams in this league who can choose from a better set of full backs than Rosey, Dudgeon, McShane and Dawson. As Dawson is probably the worst of that group, and still not all that bad, I don't see what the problem is at full back.
McShane is a liability and Dawson, I feel, is past his use-by date. He's been a loyal servant to our club, and we'll all remember what he's achieved with us, but this may be a season too far for him. We can't get stuck in the past.
Mcshane has looked like a changed man when i saw him pre-season also he captained his country, shame he got injured, of course he has a bad rep but i thought he was going to put that behind him. I agree about Daws, hope he gets a testimonial no matter what happens, he deserves it.
GK- Dudek, Hahnemann, Amos, Turnbull, Jones, Hilario, Taylor, Mannone, Shea CB- ****tu, Gorkss, Wheater, Kilgallon, Zubar, Turner MF- Bruins, Koumas, Nunez, Ephraim, Dyer, Davis, Hammill, Milijas, Shelvey, Spearing ST- Ranger, S Ameobi, Delfouneso, Weimann, Helguson, Fuller, Waghorn, Mackie, Ebanks-Blake, Vokes
Turnbull is a decent shout, wasn't he the one from 'Boro? Kilgallon would do Koumas Ameobi....He just looks a handful and fairly big and pacy
Turnbull: Chelsea's second choice, doubt they'd let him go. We have 3 keepers anyway. Kilgallon: More than adequate cover at centre half, if we could get him on a subsidised loan, fantastic. Koumas: Was on a fortune at Wigan, doubt we could meet his demands, plus I don't think he's the type of player we should be looking for Ameobi: Which one?
