Yes, I haven't spoken to anyone who's not quietly optimistic and all the fans in the Queen of Iceni after the game seemed to be quite happy about our prospects and the change in our style of play.
Reed was excellent . Collect touch pass all game. He lost possession twice and had a shot on target. Marley may be a big player too amazing finish and lots of energy
The Germans were seamlessly efficient at centre back Martin played every ball backwards apart from a hoof Husband no thrills but solid Godfrey came on and didn't look out of place at right back Olive attempted an audacious chip that bounced off the crossbar top right. Possession football
I know it was only a friendly but I've put a fiver on Brighton going down. We were comfortably the better team throughout. They are going to struggle.
Was thinking the same, we played well but Brighton didn't look that good. Out of the 2 teams I imagine our supporters walked out the happier.
Brightons ball retention and possession was crap for a PL side. They constantly fouled and ran out of ideas very quickly. In a proper league game there may well of been a sending off.
My seat was front row and first half I was about 10 metres away from Rusty so maybe a bit critical. He is still a good right back just keep him away from CB.
I could still see ok where I was Godfrey looked good though, but I don't like him in that position. When Pinto and Klose is fully fit I suspect RM will find it harder to get games, but a good back up to have imo.
Other than the soft goal Gunny played well, great distribution and comfortable to play as a sweeper ,rarely picking the ball up if not under pressure.
That's exactly what I'm hoping, but I can see he's a good player to have in the squad as a 'father figure' for the younger players.
He's a good role model for the club, always speaks well in the press and someone the youngsters can look up to.
Hope our Ginga Ninga Harry reed has a big season with you guys. most saints fans have a soft spot for him and can not really understand why he was not given more game time. on the few occasions that he did play he never let anyone down and put in a good shift. You have probably already seen what his game about, energy, good at breaking up play, simple quick passes and pressing. He has a sweet shot and can be quite creative as well. Just don't ask him to defend a tall guy at set pieces though
Sounds like yesterday's game was a very positive experience. Let's hope we can take that positive into our bogey fixture. Well, one of the many.
