Id agree totally on vvd. My view in midfield is this. Can/henderson. No 6. One could see his heel go any minute Wijnaldum/grujic. Pivot. Coutinho/lallana no 8. In this grujic needs to emerge as a real viable option. If coutinho then ends up at lw due to an injury we are light too.
pushing it with Grujic imo he has "something" but will pick up lots of bookings (at least) & is still quite raw.
Yeah can't argue, but let's be honest, cout at lw is hardly catastrophic - it's good options Edit - we could just do with a bloody injury free year couldn't we
Made captain to make a statement. In reality, he's an awful captain. Doesn't have the leaders voice or organisation and only performs for fifty minutes max per game so doesn't lad by example either. Says a lot when Milner is our best option for captain...
Am I? He would add that emergency cover but he's a hacker not a tackler and then we are down to one lb presuming Moreno goes
Just back from the game. We looked good, Solanke was very impressive, as was Coutinho. Mané looked incredibly rusty and Sturridge reminded me of why we should be selling him, I put more effort into taking a sh!t. Salah is settling in well, needs to improve his passing, but a very good outlet and reads the play well.
My info is vvd is on, but requires face saving at saints, Keita is off and ox is a nothing move, his agent is not interested in a transfer now he wants the big payday next summer. .
Let's look at our weaknesses last year: Leadership Pace (with obvious exception of mane) Width Set pieces Creativity against a packed defence How many have we solved with our signings so far?
We need a leader at the back for me. The style we play will always leave us exposed at the back, but what we have isn't good enough to cope. We have a very nervous defence. It does stem from the keeper but he isn't the only problem.
My thoughts too. The way we play, we will always be more open than others. VvD would, imo, solve the leadership (at the back, anyway) and set piece conundrum. If we want our defence to be watertight, it's a total tactical shift which we know Klopp won't do. I think in Salah we have bought pace - need more still. In Robertson, we have the potential for width down the left, if we use him. With out system, the width will nearly always come from the fullbacks. 3 players required still for me to bring guile and vision into midfield, steel and pace at the back.....and even more pace up front if possible (but a lower priority) - that said, I have no idea how fast Solanke is?? Get these 3 and we'll be making good progress. After Mignolets last few months, he deserves a chance,he really progressed imo but is still poor with his distribution.
i thought ,just like the Evans reign, it was a vicious circle of mistrust / nerves between the defence & keeper but certainly in second half of last season Mignolet was calm and very predictable in his response to situations. As the defence still had kittens everytime the ball got near our last third so i'm going with our defenders being the nervous ,apart from Matip who is so laid back he's almost asleep, element.
Do you seriously believe if we had a Mascherano type it would solve most of it? Certainly help to a degree, but we have no leader or organisation at the back. Won't help against hoof ball teams
