Very disjointed today even before the subs, and I expected a bit more tempo as it was the final game before it starts to matter but they just strolled about first half. Hoofed diagonal ball Cooper to Wood was all we had for a long time, no creativity - just like the end of last year. Sacko has improved and Saiz looks a player, as does Alioski. Saw too little of Klich to form an impression. I like the look of Pennington but I have the feeling he may be caught out of position regularly, and the Championship and Leeds fans find that hard to forgive. Overall more concerned now than I was earlier in pre-season, TC is running out of time and there seems to be a lot of loose ends still.
wiki is useless mukka geeeeeze look at how many of your new signings are crap but wiki doesn't tell you that
During the match I had a chat with the guy sitting next to me about the performance. We decided that our players appeared to be trying to avoid injury so they wouldn't miss out on starting the first game of the season. If you miss the first game, you struggle to get back in, so in a way understandable. There were 2 players that didn't comply with this - Phillips & Roofe. Both went crunching in umpteen times, and were dirty barstewards. Loved it! Pretty sure that wasn't the only reason for the flat performance, but it seemed to ring true. Pablo having a stinker certainly didn't help. He was supposed to be Mr Creativity, but it didn't really happen. Alioski was disappointingly quiet, but if I'm honest, he seemed to get starved of the ball a lot, & got little support (compared to Roofe on the other wing).
