We built our team from mostly youth product and judicious buys, like Alli. We have spent next to nothing net over the last 5 yrs. No, we haven't won anything, but we're achieving some consistency, we've improved massively, and no doubt we can beat anybody in the Prem - as we've shown. Nobody thinks they'll get an easy game against us anymore. As for ambition, I think £750 mill spent on what will be the largest stadium in London, is a pretty big statement of that.
What would you suggest Man United spend their money on out of interest? We already have the biggest stadium in the league and fantastic facilities and we are the world's richest club. Should we just save it all so other teams can have a better chance of beating us?
There are always other ways to spend money. In Utd's situation I'd invest in scouting, the youth teams, etc. The best team(s) you ever had cost very little. Problem is, a club like a Utd needs success now! Not in a year or two's time. So it's out with the cheque book.
We have a great youth setup, probably the best in this country. The league is littered with our academy products. Scouting would probably cost us about £5m max if we employed the best in the business.
If it were a great success, the league wouldn't be littered with them. They'd be playing, or would have spent their careers at Utd. It's too hot to get into a long argument. I'd just repeat the two of the most successful sides you've ever had were mostly home grown talent.
By that logic the only way you can ever measure successful youth is for them to completely dominate the league at a top club. Our academy and youth setup is fine as it is, so we are well within our rights to spend money we earn on keeping up with the Jones'.
Morata is really struggling, I think he need to get Hazard diving in the penalty area to give him a chance to get his first goal because he might have more chance from the penalty spot.
If Neymar leaves, Barcelona will choose from a trio of Premier League attacking midfielders - Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, 25, Chelsea's Eden Hazard, 26, and 21-year-old Tottenham player Dele Alli - to replace him. (Mirror) Like **** will they!
But Barcelona fear Liverpool will price them out of a deal for Coutinho. (AS) Yet, they think Levy will let Alli go for less! This hack's wums are more amateurish that Pixie's!
PSG will offer former Manchester United winger Angel di Maria, 29, as part of the deal to reduce the taxes they will have to pay by triggering Neymar's buyout clause. (AS) They should have a word with Messi and Ronaldo's accountant. He'll sort them out.
Barca: Is that Daniel Levy? Danny: Yes, who's calling? Barca: It's Barca, we want Dele. Danny: How much are you willing to pay? Barca: £125 million, is he coming? Danny: Danny turns his head away from the phone and shouts to Joe. Where's my flannel. Barca: well? Danny: we are packing his bags now, you have my bank details?
Monaco are adamant they will not sell Thomas Lemar, despite Arsenal making their third bid - of about £45m - for the 21-year-old France midfielder. (Telegraph) Arsenal should go back with a 4th bid, this time offering £45,000,001. That tactic always works for them. Oh, wait....!
Manchester City will offer Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, 28, a deal worth £320,000 a week to join them this summer. (Mail) If that's true, he'll be off like a shot. Sanchez can expect to be welcomed with "open arms" if he joins City, says Chile team-mate and Manchester City keeper Claudio Bravo. (24 Horas, via Metro) Some expert tapping-up work, there!
Wales international Bale will resist any attempts by Real Madrid to sell him to Manchester United as he has no plans to leave the Spanish club. (Times) Zidane said, at the very start of the season, that he had no plans on getting rid of Bale as he was too important for Real's future plans. Why don't these hacks ****ing well listen for once in a while?
