the usual inability to get set. I would be worried we won't even see 300 here. and if we don't..... its going to have to be an immediate bowling performance form the gods as SA showed ability to dig in.
if you pick 3 guys like jennings, malan AND westley the main men have to produce we got what a total of 26 runs out of these selections. 25 of them off westley... this was rank decision making to put three lads into this scenario like this Root then fails so thats a huge hole so stokes has just about produced enough to go with cook to barely scrape a scroe up. 279/7 is not enough mooen and bairstow both gone for low totals for them 36 and 16... thats now exposed the tail so we have ANOTHER debutant wandering out to face SA bowling... well done again selectors. The only hope here right now is broad can pull off a 50 partnership with stokes but.... we are 10 overs into a new ball so i reckon SA can blow him off it with a few bouncers. 300 not 350 i reckon.... if we dig in a while i would be happy from here... we have been let down by team selection.
england get 353 due to heroic stand by stokes. 3 consecutive 6s. once we got down to broad and anderson he just whacked it and sped up and he piled on prob 30/40 extra runs there he'd no right to if he were a mere mortal. new boy gets a wicket too.. elgar gone.
Khun gone! jones got him. thats 2 for the unknown quantity. nearly a no ball but not quite so he's gone and done an lbw after his feather edge earlier.
Well this is going swimmingly... I'd actually rather hear more about what an evil foreigner I am from Sharpe* than have to talk about the cricket! MITO can you delete my comment about how you were going to be 40/3 please!)...
You lot imploded to an unknown bowler. Amazing how much knowledge and coaching is vital to batting these days. You might as well have not batted tbh.
Yeah that's true, well we might get a chance to bat again soon although I think the smart play is not to enforce the follow-on
probably...... but i'd not turst england not to **** this up. its only 43 overs thus far... like... they aint tired so....
Fair play to Roland Jones. Quick fire 20 and then 4 quick wickets. Debuts don't get much better. Weather is hit and miss but should be dry enough over next few days.
I dunno what's a winning declaration here, what do you think? I mean we have 4 or 5 batsmen in cook, root, bairstow, stokes and all and 3 are all rounders rather than specialists. If we did another 300 would we be quid in here?
