I don't know if it says more about the age of posters on here, or the state of modern music, but the preference does tend to be for 'older' tracks.
Mark Twain please log in to view this image “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” Nowt wrong with modern music - lots of excellent stuff out there.
One of my favourite quotes. Which I often referred to when my kids were going through their stroppy know it all teenage years.
Also good for the things you come across when looking for something to post on here. Cane across the bloke who did the original If You Got To Make A Fool Of Somebody which Freddie and the Dreamers had a hit with ( and far better it was too) . Didn't realise he originally did Got My Mind Set On You in 1963 which George Harrison had a hit with later. Anyway, as time is relevant, a lot folks know Time Is On My Side by the Stones.Quite a lot know the Irma Thomas version which the Stones covered but not as many, myself included until I stumbled across, it knew the original, in 1963,was by this bloke. He was a trombonist and had singing as session singers on this Dionne Warwick, rather surprisingly as she had a number of hits by then, her sister Dee Dee and Cissy Houston.
That's the beauty of music...connections & regeneration or enhancement. Just your mention of "Dee Dee" brought this track back from the dim & distant past. It was a hit somewhere...maybe even England as it got a lot of air-time.
Great clip with an appreciative Creedence Clearwater Revival in the doorway admiring master musicians.
