Interesting to read into some of the messaging in the Wilson article. To me, seems we have reiterated he won't be sold and if he continues to throw his toys out of his pram it could effect some clubs having interest in him next season - Liverpool aren't guaranteed to qualify for champs league and presumably VVD wants to play in that, so he should keep his options open and impress further by knuckling down.

Also nice to see we are after one or two signings, and perhaps he's suggested Wimmer rumours could be true.

Tbf, Jeremy Wilson knows his stuff. Nice bloke too, who I've had dealings with.

Interesting one... I'm only guessing, but I suspect there's many fans who wouldn't piss on VVD if he was on fire even if he did have a change of heart.

Despite the protestations of the ever deluded Liverpool fans who think they deserve the footballing world to lay down at their feet, we are totally right to dictate the terms of any sake, now, next week, next year. We went into last season with the spoilt child Fonte and he very quickly lost a lot of the remaining respect people had for him.

I'd be more than happy to play Stephens as a starter, we have other more pressing weaknesses and if VVD doesn't want to play, we hold all the trump cards to keep him in the U23s.

 

People please feel free to disagree with me but I feel, if Saints play it right, that is a win-win situation.

If he stays and is willing to play we keep a World-class player.

If he goes we receive a shedload of money that can hopefully be suitably reinvested into some additions.

I could just be overly positive though.

 

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I like him, I watched him single handedly drag us through games in his time here, putting himself on the line. He has been badly advised and acted like a proper prat. But again, I like him. He stays, he gets my voice. (when he goes, then my feelings will be reconsidered)

Nope....he has been given some assurances....and he is happy to see them through....hence will not push harder for a move.

Basically, you can leave next season. Glad Saints have played hard ball. Still Van Dijk has lost a lot of peoples trust.

He's worth a lot of money to Saints ... I'd definitely piss on him

 

Whilst your totally entitled to piss on whoever you want, on fire or not.... would you prefer the £60 million fee reinvested in its entirety or a slightly smouldering/slightly sulky VVD with the first team....?

Just asking.... whilst I'm not criticising the board and the direction, I couldn't see them doing anything other than spending half on 2 players.....

 

I think there's laws that say you can't piss on whoever you want. Btw.
