So, let me get this clear. Anyone who is not offended by gay people are "****s" ? Is that what you are saying ?
Nothing stopping you organising a "heterosexual pride" march through Penclawdd. Provided that it was a celebration of YOUR sexuality and not intended to be a confrontational march against Gays. I wouldn't join you, just as I wouldn't join a Gay march. I just don't feel threatened by Gays, and am comfortable in my own sexuality.
People aren't born anti Gay. Babies don't suddenly stand up in their cots and shout out, "I hate Gays". So just where does the hatred come from ? Well, Dai gave more than a hint when he referred to having been "brought up in a strong Chapel community". Clearly this anti Gay stance is fomented by religion. It always has been, and still is. The great, late, Christopher Hitchens stated, " Religion poisons everything". I agree with him 101%. It starts by "poisoning" young and impressionable minds, and goes on from there.
Having just reread this entire thread, it is clear that the anti Gays hold the upper hand, numerically speaking that is. Not a "****" in sight.
...yeah sure. Aren't you gonna call me a homophobe or racist or something? That's how you guys make yourselves feel good isn't it?
That's an extreme view , because you don't hold the same view point you're advocating violence .Weird
I agree. Education, and reason, are far better alternatives than violence. Unfortunately, the problem is so deeply etched into the psyche of the homophobe that the task of educating them is probably a waste of time. And just try and reason with a bigot.
This kind of ****e ^ is exactly why Pride marches still exist. Fortunately the vast majority these days aren't still stuck in the Stone Age though
I was turning the tables on Musty to see how he'd respond given that he thinks 'lefties' should be shot. Of course I wouldn't advocate violence. I should have worded the post better
And unfortunately some children (thankfully not all) will pick up on these views etc and the cycle will continue within some families/households.
I've worked with gays both male and female in the past and they are mostly good, ordinary people like everyone else with a different sexual orientation to heteros. What gets on my tits, and because we are of the same generation I suspect Dai's, is gays in the media. The last figures I saw, a long time ago, is that gays make up about 6% of the population. However gays in the media give the impression that the majority of people are and if you watch any form of drama there is a gay, usually male, in every programme. It is possibly a generation thing but I don't like over enthusiastic hetero clinches in public and certainly don't like similar gay clinches. Also terminology, marriage is the union of a man and a woman, a husband is the male partner of a woman and a wife is the female partner of a man. From the legal aspect and the difficulty that the death of one of the partners can cause, never mind the emotional upset, I am in favour of civil partnerships To me as the word says gay couples are partners.
So, there's a program on the Telly about intolerance in football is there? Fancy that being on the telly, never seen anything like it, how dare the bastards try to ram it down my throat. They'll be saying Women should get equal pay and there'll be programs about Equality for Women next and then I be getting Women rammed down my throat. And what about that Bastard Attenborough always banging on and ramming animal fekking issues down my throat. I've had enough and you know what I'm going to do bout it, I'm going to pick up the remote off of the occasional table and I'm going to change the ****ing channel that's what. How dare they ram things down my throat, ahh, a TV program about people watching TV programs, perfect, no brains needed watching this then, those people will tell me what to think. Vive la différence I say, diversity is King and should be embraced not feared. Without it we'd still be single cell mustyfrogs.
