Just as he's been mentioned on here, I thought that I'd mention that I'd take Bendtner from the Goons, too. He's badly misused by Wenger, who never gives him a proper run in the side and always sticks him out on the wing, for some reason. Stick him in our cup team, using the same system as the first team side and I think that he'd do well.
Given the track record of rumors, it's true it may not even be worth discussing (if the alternative weren't getting back to work, anyway). But there's a lot of logic to this, I think. Arsenal have bitten the bullet (or had it bitten for them) and let two of their stars go. That means their place in the top four is looking definitely iffy. Liverpool have gambled on getting it, but I'm not convinced they were better than Spurs w/o Adebayor. If Spurs keep Modric and get Adebayor it lets them gamble on a top four spot this year w/o risking their finances if the gamble fails. It may be especially tempting because I'm not so sure Chelsea as they stand are a shoe-in top four team either.
Nope, I wouldn't smile if he scores the winner against the goons. I'd be smiling for us getting another win against them, I'd be smiling for the team - but not for him. And no, I don't think he's a better player than our three first choice strikers, just a different player.
The rumour about Lennon to City started recently. Levy appears to have started to talk to City at around the same time. Mancini said something about still wanting to bring a winger in the other day. Redknapp has shown an interest in various City players in the past. I'm probably just letting my imagination get the better of me here, but given Levy's eye for a bargain (or a 'bargain', sometimes), I wouldn't put it past him to try and pick up some of their fringe players and pay virtually nothing. Lennon to City, Adebayor, Bellamy, Adam Johnson and Shaun Wright-Phillips to Spurs? Maybe even Bridge thrown in there somewhere. Some sort of deal over wages, bonuses and transfer fees reached. Bentley to Blackburn as part of a deal for Samba. Some other out-of-favour players shifted to make way for Redknapp's other targets. Not sure why, but I feel that the whole thing isn't exactly what it seems.
I could believe that there may be more to the deal than meets the eye, but I don't think that Adam Johnson would be included in any deal - more likely Nedum Onouha
I'd love to have Johnson at Spurs but not at the cost of Lennon. I agree with you about Bendtner too, could be a useful signing.
I'd take Onouha. Good, versatile young player. The reason that I said Johnson is that he's not generally favoured by Mancini and they appear to have fallen out, on occasion. If Lennon were to sign for City, then he'd push Johnson even further down the pecking order, even if you leave out the potential Nasri move. I doubt he'd be happy about that.
In my humble opinion , Adebayor is a far better frontman than any we have at the moment . Yes he can be hassle but treated delicately he will give us more intent in the foward position. This would also show our lovable Croat dwarf that the club are really pushing for top 4. Lennon for me is to hot and cold . I would love to see Johnson in that position but I don't think this would happen. He has more skill , seems to be more consistant but less pace. Let's hope this isn't another false dawn.
Honestly, you believe that bringing in a loan player from another side, who we pipped to 4th to gain our only CL showing so far, will show that the club are really pushing for the top four? are you on drugs? Loaning in AnyBuyer, in my own humble opinion, shows exactly the opposite. It shows we can't compete with the big boys in the league, that no-one wants to come to us (unless its as a stepping stone to a 'bigger' club) and that we have all but given up in our pursuit of success on any level. False dawn?... more like the twilight of our ambitions.
Totally agree. Adebayor IS a class striker. Whether you hate him because he's an ex Goon, or whatever, there's no doubt that he's class above what we have now. And, IMO, assuming the deal goes through, by far the best option open to us at the moment.
OK. Now I know people opine that I'm a tad pessimistic, but are you all saying that you think that a transfer window in which our acquisitions are FREEdel and AnyBuyer is a good thing? Did everyone else think, those two are perfect for Spurs and will really take us up to the next level? Or is it just, well they're better than **** all?
