I did not, love the bloke, and first started following the lads when we were under Reid in the prem with him and Niall banging them in, but figured he'd get enough votes without mine, love Jermain though, and Quinny is my all time favourite!
I did like Defoe but in terms of importance he's a footnote compared to the Quinn and Phillips partnership. It didn't help that we had him at the arse end of a long and miserable period for the club. I'd put him third with Bent fourth and Welbeck and Gyan tied for fifth.
Still wish things had worked out better with Gyan. What a ****ty way he treated us and his own career. As a player he blew me away. He was quick, strong, hard working, could drop into the hole, play off the last man, run the channels or present himself as the target man he could do it all and he did it cool as ****. Pure nightmare for defenders. We should have been a stepping stone for him. He could have been up there with the best all round forwards in the last decade if only he challenged himself.
He was a quality passer as well mate. He could have been a world star, another year or 2 with us at his level and a big, big club would have knocked. ****ing idiot.
Oh yeah he could pass as well, if not better than most the Midfielders he played against. Loved Gyan me. Had the world at his feet. It hurt tbh Look how diverse all these goals are. Really like the first one the way he drops away from the defender drifting into the channel blind siding him. To only need one touch there shows phenomenal movement and finishing.
Have to agree, Bridges would walk into our team ahead of many up there, says how good these two were, couldn't get a sniff really.
Danny Dichio. Probably the only player that I have seen where, when trying to control the ball, the ball bounced off him at greater speed than the ball was initially going. It was as if the ball was made from one of these.... please log in to view this image
I dont think you're taking this seriously. Although there was a time when it would have been thought that this partnership would have had potential. There was a time when Whickham was thought to be nailed on England no.9 for the future. And Bendtner was world class, according to him.
Philips most likely all time best Sunderland striker, up there with Rowell, 'pop' robson, Marco. Funny thing is that if Bent had stayed here maybe he would have been our top scorer now !. Gyan buggered off so no chance.
Bendtner IS royalty! Just googled. Not married. Had a bairn with her, they separated soon after. please log in to view this image
