Okay, ladies! This one is for those of us who have the stones to put our necks on the line with honest, well considered and sensible predictions. I want your prediction and your reasons. Here's mine. City Spurs Chavs United 'Pool Arsenal Chavs and City are always going to be title contenders simply because they can each buy glory. I cannot see Pep screwing this one up. He's spent a fortune getting players in and he needs to produce. I hesitated about putting us above Chavs, as I think Conte is a decent manager, very much in the Poch mould. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished above us. It's just that I think Poch has this team getting better and better, and but for City being able to buy glory I'd fancy us for the title. As for the rest, I think The Smug One will pip 'Pool to the final top 4 spot, and then it's a bun-fight for 6th spot, which I think Arsenal will just about achieve. Please respect the sincerity of this thread and keep the wumming out. Thanks, lads.
1. Chelsea 2. City 3. Utd 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs 6. Pool Chelsea are strong and have invested well too. Pep has spent the GDP of a small country but I still don't think he'll outfox Conte Maureen will grind out plenty of bore draws and turn some of them into wins with Lukaku popping up with a last min winner Arsenal will re-claim the 4th place trophy Spurs will struggle to win as many games at home being at Wembley Klopp is too inconsistent. He only got top 4 because Arsenal were so **** last season.
That's brave, you putting Arsenal in the top 4 spots, Pix. You don't think your club is in decline with Wenger refusing to give the job up to someone who can actually compete?
Hardy mate. Arsenal missed out on top 4 for only the first time in two decades last season. Your prediction that you'll be challenging City for the title is what you'd call 'brave' Noted that you have predicted that Arsenal will 'just about achieve' 6th though
Pixie has predicted that the Prem's most consistent team over the past could of seasons is going to finish outside the top 4. I'm sure that someone has made a note of that.
Is tough to decide when so many changes could still happen. Will Sanchez stay at Arsenal, will Coutinho get his move to Barca's bench, will Mbappe finally seal his move to Spurs. All currently unknown. So I'll do a prediction based on now, and reserve the right to update after the window closes Chelsea - depends how Morata settles. If he is as effective as Costa, then I can't see past them holding on to the trophy. Small squad, need to be lucky with injuries again. City - Could be anywhere from 1st to 6th but you'd have to think the new defence will see them getting the better of Utd. Will be close. Utd. A pacy forward will improve them, but Maureen needs to trust the forwards more. If he does that, they will challenge at the top. Arsenal. If they keep Sanchez (or get Lemar) I can see a good season. Really needs more organisation at the back though. Personally think Mertesacker should play more Spurs. Second best team but not enough depth. Interesting to see the Wembley effect - if we can shrug that off quickly then may be I am underselling us Pool. Jekyll and Hyde team. Defence is still vulnerable, need recruits in defence and central midfield. Will be close to those above, but just fall short for me. Would miss Coutinho if he goes.
Agree with this. Well I more hope that Chelsea will retain the league than think they will, but everything else I can get on board with. No way Spurs are going to finish 2nd ffs. How is the squad getting better? They haven't bought anyone ffs HIAG All they have done is lost Kyle Walker! And no way they will compete for the title with 38 away games next season. I personally think the top 3 can and will be a combination of Chelsea, City and United, though lord knows what order. But I also think Arsenal will grab 4th, Spurs 5th and Pool 6th, same as Pisk. Liverpool are impossible to predict, their squad is so uneven, and their manager so unhinged, they will probably start off great again, and get everyone excited before falling away after Christmas and finishing 6th.
The transfers have not finished yet lads. This could make a big difference. For Liverpool Couts might go and a one or two might come in. I'll have a go anyway: 1. Chelsea 2. United 3. City 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs 6. Liverpool
I think the manc clubs and Chelsea will be the top 3 in some order. I think Spurs won't make top 4. Beyond that ask me in September.
This is the main thing. If Costa goes and Morata is our first choice striker, then a lot will depend on whether he hits the ground running or not.
If we keep Coutinho and get VVD and Keita then I think we'll get top4. If we don't buy anyone else then we won't get top 4 at all, even with Coutinho.
The squad gets better by staying together and gaining another year's experience. We are a young team, Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Dier, Son, Davies, Trippier are still far from their peak. Rose, Lloris, Wanyama, Alderweireld and Vertonghen are all at their peak. Every year they stay together they will get better.
