You may well be right and if you are then that confirms many people's thoughts that he is selling off anybody of worth and taking there money back. If that wasn't the case he would want us back in premier league
I agree with most of what you say but a team who has just come down should be aiming to do nothing but go back up. Look at Sunderland and middlesbrough. That's exactly what they are doing, us on the other hand are setting up with a massively understrength squad which over a long season is going to be knackered.
If we already have four, and earlier in pre-season Slutsky said we need 6 or 7 in total, then we truly are ****ed.
I went, it wasn't the most exciting match I've been to but interesting to see the new guys. I hope Mazuch signs, he looks as if he could do a job for us. The main issue for me is that everyone showed flashes of good stuff and potential, but we are STILL giving the ball away to the opposition all the time. Sam stepped up and fulfilled captains duties well, and much as I will miss the Jak, it was good to see Mr Grumpy back in goal. I expect to see the patented time wasting, shouting at ball boys, free kick routine at least once per home game. Also credit to both Slutsky and Ranieri who were happily doing autographs and selfies with the kids at the end as I was leaving. Man of the match! The goalpost denying the Nantes shot.
It's quite concerning that Slutsky's moaning about a 'short turnaround' already, we've only played friendlies so far, how the **** does he think we'll cope over a 46 game season?
For some bizarre reason it's been played behind closed doors! I'm sure a few would have wanted to go to that one
To be fair when you are coming into a new season, they are not fully fit yet, so the quick turn round has more affect than it does when they are fully fit. One thing that struck me in the Benfica game was the level they kept up for the whole game, which I think you saw the effects of that last night.
A few years back, talk was of a new tier in East Stand. Now our support rattles around in the Caravan Park, and the apathy surrounding the club is reflected in the lack of interest shown for last night's game. Factor in this vindictive suppression of our name ('That will teach them to reject my ideas!) and you have a directionless club heading for the rocks.
MOTM definitely the announcer struggling with all of the Nantes player names and even a couple of ours.
