Saw your facebook last night. Nice picture, but I couldn't tell if you'd pulled or were being pulled. please log in to view this image
This is a better one Bri, funnily enough it was a Christmas present from my 'Mag relatives' in Chopwell. After I'd put it up, and sent them a photo, I had a moment of panic when I wondered if I'd put it up the correct way. That's right though, yellow at the top please log in to view this image I'll hoy some photos up of the balloon later. It's one thing paying for a 'ride in a balloon' but to have one you can take out any time must be mad.
Everybody on here who professes to live anything more than a bog standard bedsit lifestyle is accused of being a liar at some point, by somebody.
There must be at least a dozen lads from the forum who have met Smug. I'm one of them. We speak to the same people and he's not lying. He even kindly offered me and my daughter to go down and stay. Other posters have been down. Some people don't understand that not everybody wants to be part of the rat race working 9-5 everyday making big bucks for a big cooperation. I done that until I was 30 but now I've found what works for me and I've never been happier.
Weird isn't it, some people get really upset about it despite vehemently pretending they don't care. Either that or they endlessly post it's all bs or claim an estate manager is a toilet scrubber, must make them feel better about their own situation. They must lead such dreary lives that they just can't imagine it's possible to get off yer backside and do summat with your life.
This. I wish I could escape the rat race in all honesty. Im 30 now and it doesn't appear to be getting me anywhere. Fair play to Smug. He's a genuine bloke whom I have plenty of time for.
It's something I always feared, mate. Now I've done it, I wish I had have done it sooner. I just keep my money ticking over from all angles. If I see a cheap house, buy it does it up sell it on. I've got a couple of business interests with people I've invested in. I've also got my own little thing going on. I'm even being paid by the Jews in Bensham at the moment to look after one of their interests and that in itself is a good wage by anybody standards. It's a big leap QWOP, but if you find what works for you you'll always wonder why you didn't get out and do it sooner.
There's nothing worse. It's robotic, I know somebody who works for a company that source raw materials as a 3rd party, then they pass on the materials to big builders merchants. I once said to him, 'You have the contacts in the industry to source and the contacts to sell the product to, why on earth are you doing that for £12 an hour?'.
Yeah exactly, mate. I suppose everybody gets sucked in and likes the stability. People fear change. My advice to people now is save a few grand up and just go follow your dreams. Money breeds money.
Capital, or rather the lack of it, is what stops people setting up on their own. Even those who manage it are often then undone by cashflow issues further down the line. I've seen many go to the wall who had sustainable businesses but they got completely hamstrung by a lack of working capital.
Believe me, not many people would've wanted to have lived my life, I've taken more chances than Defoe in his prime. It's been incredible but frightening at the same time. Just like a roller coaster, exhilarating but times when your stomach would roll and you'd wonder wtf you were doing. I've been in some really r's clenching situations that belong in an Al Pacino film .... but I wouldn't change a thing. I somehow lived through it all and the memories will last a lifetime.
All very true. Many 'self made millionaires' have been supported by daddy's interest free loans, Auntie Doris's legacy and Grabdpapy's trust fund. It's a different matter, setting up a business from the West Wing of the country home than risking everything from a 3 bed semi with a couple of kids wanting new trainers.
Yep, making money when you already have money is relatively simple, providing you have half a decent amount of business acumen and you can add up! Making the transition from wage slave to entrepreneur whilst paying a mortgage and needing to put food on the table is quite another.
Or a limited demand for what they supply, or a saturated market for their product or service, or just poor management. Capital, I've found is often the excuse for the companies that deflate rapidly. I used my friend as an example because he is not exploiting his opportunities, he would have little to no overheads as a broker, but that £25k salary is his safety blanket and he won't let go of it, although it's his own choice obviously.
The previous owner of this place, Sir Ernest Harrisson, was interesting. He was born in a Salvation Army hospital, his mam took in washing because his dad was on the London dock labour scheme. That was a horrendous system whereby all the men would arrive for work, some chosen and the rest sent home. He really was a self made millionaire who used to have huge parties here for 300 people. The head gardener has been here 30 years and says he used to have the Arsenal players here, the Tory cabinet and his mates from racing. He'd ring up Chipperfields circus and get them to drop off elephants to take people round the grounds ..... one time he climbed on and rode it down to the Barley Mow pub while they were playing a cricket match on the green outside. Have a look at him on Wiki I'd you get a minute.
