^^^^ Rattled (Just kidding) I wasn't mocking Pep for buying success, I was mocking Pep for spending loads of money and winning **** all. I am a football fan, not a business fan to be honest though, at the end of the day its all banter. I couldn't give a dusty **** who spends what to be quite honest bud. Think if the football fans of old could see us now, arguing over who has the lowest net spend, and banting a fanbase due to high value of the add ons added to a players contract, they'd called us ***gots and piss themselves at the bitchiness. This is what drove my dad away from football later in life. People blame money for killing the game, I actually think whats killing the game is fans and the medias fixation on the money side of it, rather than the money itself. There has always been money in football, and there have always been some clubs that have more money than others. Yes the fees banded about are higher these days because thats the world we live in, but to be perfectly honest, if we just ignored the money and watched the ****ing game, everyone would be a lot happier for it.
They would add experience and depth, Trippier or Rose out and those 2 to call on would be good. Not saying they are world beaters right now but they would be great cover.

The Glazers have pocketed plenty but have spent big since more money came into the game. The United brand is so big that they recognise that if they spend a chunk, they will get a chunk plus a multiple in return. Levy and Lewis have always been happy to pocket an easy profit which is why you were a selling club. Now they don't have to sell to clean up but they clearly don't fancy gambling their easy profit on transfer fees.
Problem is some past it City reject will be on more than our star players. Not up for that strategy and i can see why. You must think wtf when you sign OAP's and they go right to the top of the money tree...it's bullshit and i'm glad we dont have that policy. What we got to do is carry on looking for the untapped talent and let Poch work his magic. If Barklay is interested in football and joins us, just watch him become an England regular and on the plane to the WC.
Levy is just excusing his own clubs inactivity in the market, under the guise of pragmatism, when the reality is they're shovelling cash into the new stadium, due to his chosen funding method, which could hamstring them in the market for years to come.
I've never got this 'selling club' tag we seem to have acquired. We've not voluntarily sold a top player who we didn't want to lose in many, many years. All those sold, Bale, Modric, etc, demanded transfers, and in some cases virtually went on strike to get what they wanted. Also, spending £750 mill on a new stadium doesn't smack of somebody who's in it for a 'quick profit'
Yeah I get that point but the counter argument will be a stinger if you once again come short due to a lack of depth.
Easy profit mate not quick profit. I don't know the ins and outs of the new stadium deal. Did Spurs try and become squatters at the Olympic Stadium before deciding to develop a new stadium of their own? Are they planning on developing resi and retail property on the site of the old ground?
Isnt the new stadium being built on the same ground? They are just bulldozing the old ground and building over it I think, you could see the new stadium was half built last season wrapped around the old one, looked funny.
What was Levy supposed to do? He had a very unhappy player who had made it abundantly clear he wanted out. Modric actually went on strike, Bale reportedly threatened to. Where's the profit in keeping unhappy, unsettled and unsettling players who don't want to play for you? What he did was the most pragmatic thing any chairman could do in the circumstances, extract the maximum fee possible for that player.
