I expect Coutinho to leave, but next summer.

I think they are trying to unsettle him and will come back in for him in a year. We will probably convince him to stay for another year and promise that he can leave then.

Virgil van Dijk is expecting to be a Liverpool player by the end of the transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
According to Sky, Sources close to the Dutchman believe he will sign for Liverpool before the end of this summer’s window after a lengthy transfer saga.
However, there is no suggestion that Liverpool have done any negotiating since they apologised for allegedly tapping up the Dutchman in June. Liverpool escaped punishment after Southampton reported them to the Premier League for the alleged dealings

RB Leipzig have begun searching for a replacement for Naby Keita after accepting he wants to join Liverpool, according to reports in Germany.

    yes.

its at best leaks from players saying come get me. It could simply be hacks making ****e up.

I think this is the week where LFC resolve these two deals or they will go to last day.

After this week the friendlies run out and the CL qualifiers come up. if we want them in by then we need them in this week.

daniel levy is well known for being a tight bastard but he agrees with me. This is a bubble market.

I will say it again. I 'd rather look back at this period and see a 70k anfield stadium than us shovelling cash at leipzig and southampton.

Yep. It's a bubble for sure. The numbers being thrown about, even for average players, are ridiculous. Would love to see Anfield developed to the maximum.....because after the bubble, that's what will be left. Players will come and go.

If we are selling him to Barca wouldn't mind Rafinha included in the deal. Looks like looking to move anyway and would mean wouldn't have to try find a replacement at over inflated prices.

    £80m and Rafinha

As I have said before I have a completely irrational dislike of Spurs, but on this Levy is spot on. I hope that you & he are proved right, how is our academy in comparison to Spurs btw ? :bandit:

This is the time to screw Barca, they must not get away with. They have so many good players, we want a better deal.

    crap :)

seriously though woodburn and TAA are great to come out of it but they are total exceptions. there is a LOT of work to build structures to progress our academy and colocating with seniors might help but we need a strong flow of coaches moving up though the system. Gerrard is an anomaly in this. He is a special case but why not lucas and more peopel like linders.... klopp met him, loved him and he's now the 4th wheel in klopps team that was 3 before.

Hyypia and Carra would probably sort our shambles of a defence out. Sadly they can't do **** all about our ****e goalies.

Trouble is ex players now days want to go into punditry, assume more money in it than coaching.

    IMO

    1. they are under pressure with fans on neymar. this could all be a fit up to distract from that

    2. they could be thinking to buy his bestie to keep neymar happy

    3. they could be preparing the ground for next year.

which if the 3 is it?

All things being equal Barca can have him any time we all know it. So right now he's got 4/5 years elft on a 180k per week contract so they will have to pay and pay BIG.

Guillem ballbag has been saying every time barca didn't really rate the lad and were not in so he looks stupid right now :)

As people say... player wants to go they pay up. same as any other club (including southampton) say... we have the contract power here.

I for one however do not agree with the attitude that he's not all that. Suarez going was a guy on the very top of his game yes but IMO we've developed coutinho to the point where if he went NOW peopel in 12 months would be saying he's the best i nthe world in his position supplying suarez, messi and neymar with ball.

He is THAT GOOD. if he stays this year and has salah, mane and firmino to pass to from a no 8 role he will be easily the POTY IMO. Its coming guys he is our main man for past 6 months and will be the absolute linch pin in klopps system.

Nobody, especially not lallana can replace the vision he has. lallana can ponce abuot o nthe ball and work had and even do a flick or two but he hasn't got the vision.

IF we sell it must be for 120mil IMO and then we should change the system and buy aubameyang if we can out of it. go with lightening pace up top and play a 4231 formation.

So it sounds like we are just going to have to be patient and wait for the bubble to burst and hope we have enough to keep us in view while we get through the period.

Dont get me wrong i would love to see us get Vvd and Keita however the numbers have made me really uncomfortable, but equally i dont want to see us slip to being mid table on a permanent basis.

Guess i want my cake whilst i eat it :) sounds like it will take time to develop the academy, I am guessing it is on Klopps radar, was he the one who insisted on the relocation or was it an FSG decision?

I don't think its that simple. I don't buy this a defensive coach stuff. The issues we see are:

    a) team height on set piece. The midfield offer nothing to the defence on set play except for blocking runs or can who is tall. Our full backs are all average to short... this is an issue.

    b) team formations, patterns and decision making. We have a very clear pattern klopp drills and drills and drills. who comes out, where the gaps are, how to drop back in etc. This works... its when people make bad decisions especially lovren and klavan or people go missing that is the issue. I see gamblers playing for us. and lack of concentration at times.... if you get out of position or you panic or you gamble and then fail thats where goals come from.

    c) we are total **** on clearing second ball. Often we fail to get it even out of pen area. give sides 2/3 bites of the cherry. Carragher would sort this by having lads hit row z. however i see a lot of guys just panic and slice it when a calm head puts the laces through it or a solid header.

IMO adding VVD is just once element. a massive guy who can head the ball and is quick. that deals with A but not really with B totally. his pace helps there.

    Clyne ar RB is short.

    Keita is short

    Robinson and milner are short.

The entire front line are at best average height..

I am willing to predict if we get the IDEAL summer for klopp we will still se set piece goal leakage as sides will simply play the ball away from our big CBs or win the second ball.

clearing that second ball would take 10 goals off our GA column

He's not quite saying that though. The market prices are dictated by supply and demand. What he's saying, is that clubs who end up with net spends that put them into large loss making situations is unsustainable. Only it is if you're an oil club and you create an inflated sponsorship deal that covers the shortfall and keeps the club the right side of FFP.

To a large extent he's justifying his own clubs inactivity, as we all know their cash is being eaten by the stadium development due to his chosen funding method.

I read the word unsustainable as a bubble personally. Its going to pop. The consequences of the bubble is exactly what you said. clubs left in leeds position as they have over paid and have huge wages they cannot pay.

I also agree the inactivity there has to be related to the stadium.

The only reason Levy has come out and said that is due to no activity in the transfer market other than Walker. Their fans must be bored ****less with nothing happening. Levy is trying to convince them he knows best.

He might well have a point, but the timing of him saying it makes it clear why he's saying it.

It's an excuse for him being a tightfisted arsehole, this year he has the stadium expansion to hide behind.
