Sad as it is, I agree. We can reinvest, And bring in 2/3 players for that.

 

I disagree, you can't say for certain it's best because we haven't tried the other way.

In fact the closest we have had to this is with Morgan and that definitely worked out for us.

I maintain that there's 2 simple facts we can take from this saga:

1) If we can't stand firm then we likely NEVER will.

2) We (the board) are gonna like look right muppets if we sell to Pool after the whole tapping up bollocks.

The fans won't be happy if we try and just 'get by' on the replacement either.

Lallana? Lovren? If players kick up enough of a fuss then they aren't worth keeping. Morgan backed down and chilled,Van Dijk has acted a twat the whole time and not backed down.

 

Easy for me to say as an outsider but, you should just keep your stance and hold Liverpool to their word not to bid.
VvD will not want to sit on the bench or play reserve football in a world cup year.

 

At the point now that I actually don't care if he stays or goes. If he goes then reinvest wisely and get it done soon. I'll give him a good boo when we face him and that will be that.

If he stays and changes his mind then great. He's a very good player and an asset to any team. This is incredibly unlikely.

At the end of the day he's been a a colossal Virgil Van Dickhead.

 

But if you have a player worth that much cash not willing to play then you're better off selling and investing in players that want to.

 

Yeah Lallana and Lovren we didn't make stay so we can't say for certain that it's best as we have nothing to go on.

Morgan we made stay, and it worked out. I acknowledge he didn't seem to be quite as bad which is why I said he's the closest we have.

We don't know that Virgil won't settle down once the window shuts... I just want us to take a stand for once.

Though sadly the WC year isn't too relevant as it's likely they'll be out come November.

 

He wants to go now though and has a agent willing to back him up. He is unwilling to play for us as well. It's basically his end game.

Morgan calmed down during the window and got on with it, after being promised a move the following year. Van Dijk has been asked to wait a year but isn't having it.

What is incredibly unlikely? That he'll stay or that he'll have to sort his head out if we make him?

I agree it's unlikely that he'll stay, but don't know how you can say with certainty that he won't knuckle down if we make him.

I think it's far more likely than him sulking for 9 months and not playing a single minute of football, not sure that does his prospects any good?
