Hence I said seemed to make him better than he already was. The latter version of Adams was the best Adams. Perhaps that wasn't down to Wenger though. Maybe some of it was as he is a good psychologist, but perhaps Adams was just one of those players who got better with age.

He sees Webnger as a manager not a coach. He does call him one of the greatest managers of all time.

I suppose you could say the same of Ferguson for your lot. A great manager with great instinct. Would he be considered one of the greatest coaches of all time? Probably not. Psychology wise, making in game decisions and picking great coaches to work under him, he was second to none.

Tony Adams owed everything to George Graham and Arsenal's defensive coaches. He was just a part of a superbly organised back four and he was never blessed with the greatest ability, you don't the the nickname of "Donkey" for nothing!...<laugh>

Probably, I stated in my opening gambit that it was close between him and Adams as I admired their leadership qualities and their will to win at all costs. The fact I went for JT was not because Im a Chelsea fan but because I thought he was just and only just better than TA.

Both of the above relied on faster more agile partners but that's how it generally works out with Centre backs. I also admired Martin Keown for his out and out brutality as well as his defending. During my thought process I tried to take in every possible trait essential for the position. <ok>

Ferdinand & Vidic as a pair.
The former for the silky, pacy, classy category.
The latter for the tough, uncompromising, no fear one.

As a player Terry was equal to Rio and Stam but I can not see past just how much of a **** he is.

King would have been up there if he had knees.

Sorry Terry was not equal to those two as a player at all.

Constantly overrated due to his leadership.

I recall JT being touted around for about £9m before Roman tipped up, that was about year after Rio moved for £30m.

or the desire to win something, depending on your view.

As for who was the best CB, it's hard to quantify and single one out, they aren;t like strikers they have to work as a pair, covering each other, so I've gone for pairings

    Carvalho & Terry
    Stam & Rio
    Adams and Campbell.

No, I think you'll find he was the original poster boy for 'The Hills Have Eyes
