Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool are not afraid to spend big like European rivals JURGEN KLOPP insists Liverpool have the spending power to pay big money if the right player becomes available. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...pp-Naby-Keita-Virgil-Van-Dijk-football-gossip
History would show we're not afraid to pay big money for a mediocre talent who aren't worth it. But we've never splashed stupid-big cash on a world class talent. Not in last 20 years at least.
I remember a few years ago Barca were interested in Thiago Silva from PSG and their response? They threatened to meet Messi's release clause (in excess of £200m at the time). If we are serious about keeping Coutinho and want to be considered amongst the elite, might be time to play them at their own game. I wouldn't take £100m for Coutinho. We can get the same next season and he is part of Klopp's plans, we haven't had enough time to prepare for this.
i would just like to set context on Andy carroll This is important. Our league position the day hodgson was sacked was 12th.. 4 points off relegation and 5 off the bottom. Let me put torres in context. We spend all window "bargaining" with ajax for suarez. All window.... the guy missed 7 games and was an unknown quantity. We sold torres on the 28th January..... at THAT time we had dalglish appointed and we went form 25 points to 32 points in the league with a quick couple of results... with torres scoring twice v wolves and we beat fulham 1-0 with torres playing in a really scrappy game and fulham scored an OG. we lost to blackpool after dlaglish was appointed. we opened a tn point gap on the relegation places in the few games kenny had managed. Torres was playing for us and the ONLY options we had were kuyt and N'gog..... thats it. Torres drops the let me go now bomb and we panic. IMO we were toying with suarez but then completed AND went we can't afford to not have a striker... who kenny... and for some inexplicable reason kenny picked ANDY CARROLL... the final aspect of this is the Europa league we were in the next round and suarez was cup tied so IMO we factored that in i believe firmly that it was blind panic in melwood that week. IMO calmer heads would have said 32 points is almost safe and not panic bought.... BUT that europa looked the only way to win anything and we went and splurged. We should NEVER refer to this decision as anything but a pure panic situation where money was there and they decided to spend it. ...... I would rather that Klopp buys the right guy than any guy... if he wanted VVD and Keita fine.. ok your strategy here looks like it was poorly conceived and executed given thier contract length and clubs there are at. Buying just anyone on the last day will only do more harm than good though. I really don't know what we can do as its clear anyone else bought was never the choice... thats a hard thing to join a club under.
I agree. i think he will be worth 150mil next year after scoring 20 form midfield and driving the team to glory

The Anfield side are keen on tying the player down until 2022 and will table a five-year deal worth €6m per year, with various bonuses added. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson makes major transfer claim JORDAN HENDERSON believes Liverpool have enough quality to challenge for trophies next season even if Jurgen Klopp fails to make any more signings. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...l-Transfer-News-Jordan-Henderson-Jurgen-Klopp
That would assume that Keita was off for good (at least till next summer) which is good imo. RB wont sell and £70m is alot of money for a player who might be a similar case to many of the Leicester players. If he does it again next summer and £48m is the price, it'll probably be worth it... till then we should wait and find someone else. I don't see why we should loan Sakho again, its not like he's some junior who needs to prove himself at first team level. Palace have already had him and seen what difference he made to their defence. If they want him they should pay whatever the price ends up being. Frankly I'm just about done with our transfer window. Its a load of **** run by a bunch of amateurs

Negotiations have been going smoothly but the Spanish side will have to spend more than €100m (£89.3m) to sign the Liverpool star, potentially breaking the world transfer record in the process.
Me too, I watch football for the game - all of these shenanigans leave me cold. Stop playing musical chairs, all take your places, quieten down and let's get on with playing the game.
Can anyone confirm if Coutinho was at training today? just read a blog/post saying he wasn't. Or if he was he left early.
£90m is not enough. He's about to enter his prime years. He should be valued much higher than Mbappe for example. Will be gutted if he goes. More so when he improves again.
