I think most can agree we're ok for midfielders. We need defenders and more attacking options, especially out wide.
True, I can't see Clucas going, unless someone comes in with a very high bid. According to reports in Newcastle that story going around about them putting in a £4M bid was bollocks.
Clucas and Stewart worked well in the Benfica game, and suits how Slutski likes to play. I suspect he will try to develop that partnership.
I didn't watch it, but understand that partnership suits his style Should be a good basis to build midfield round hopefully
I said this a month ago but others thought I was mad. I have mates who know Clucas and his family, he is a family driven lad, likes living close to Lincoln/Mansfield where his family are, and loves to play football regularly. He is not money driven and is a loyal lad. I think he will only go to a club reasonably close to where he lives, and where he will play regularly. If he does go I would guess it would be somewhere like Stoke or WBA I personally think he will love the idea of been the key player in our midfield, playing week in week out, and been very close to his family
Ondrej Mazuchs misses has arrived in England and he's started 'following' City on IG so i assume the announcement will be imminent.
Weird that all these players who did well for us on loan remain totally unwanted by their parent clubs. Markovic, Ranocchia, N'Diaye. They all looked good Premier League players for us.
I don't think they did, or we would have stayed up, Markovic blew hot and cold though he did look a lot better towards the end, but not for Liverpool's level; N'Diaye had some absolutely hopeless games; Ranocchia almost single-handedly caused relegation with that calamitous error against Palace; Niasse faded badly towards the end.
The 1st half of the season is why we went down. Markovic was very good for someone like us. N'Diaye iffy and Ranocchia made one mistake in all the games he was here. Apart from that he was exceptional. Niasse is just a weird sort of player.
I guess my point is they showed the reasons their parent clubs don't want them. Ranocchia, we were told when signing him, is prone to big errors that gift goals. He left it late to show it, but it probably justifies to Inter why they want rid.
Are you being serious? It was one daft mistake, he was very impressive in the other 15 games. You conveniently seem to be forgetting all the goals he saved
No I'm not, and I think you're missing my point. But that's ok. PLT wondered why none of our loanees are in high demand at their parent clubs, I'm offering an explanation.
I was just going to post the same. Silva's reign was a bold attempt (by him) to extract us from the mire we were in, but ultimately it all went tits up. Forget the 'we nearly pulled off the great escape' scenario of January/February and remember just how abysmal we were in the last few games when it really mattered. Without doubt our loanee's parent clubs would have been watching and their overriding reaction would have been 'how do we sack off these disastrous signings and get some money back?'
