That picture's Rodgers??? There was a blond haired kid playing midfield that evening who we all thought stood out. Assumed it was Olley, now think it was Clark. It's like watching a film, they all look the same.
Banging the drum.......but why have we not got a squad assembled yet. The whole back line we are desperate, plus some options attacking.
Henriksen and Evandro are attacking midfielders. We have Clucas who is a holding midfielder (not gone yet), Stewart and Meyler (easily back for Villa). In a 4-2-3-1 you need two holders and an AM. We have that. That's probably why we have enough central and attacking midfielders.
Ehab haggling over fees presumably Obita Henry Shotton Not sure whats going on with ryan kent and any potential chelsea loans like i dont think the head of recruitment or ehab can work on more than one deal each at a time lol
I said that Evandro and Henriksen are attacking midfielders. Can't you read? Evandro seems to always be injured and neither he nor Markus have impressed. We could do with another Plus Meyler hasn't had much off a pre season so he's going to take time, same with Mason whenever he's back
If Clucas goes that's another massive step backwards. Plus it will all but green light a departure for Grosicki who seems to be trying to get out (despite the 'supermarket being closed'), leaving us with a grand total of 0 wingers. The closest we would have would be Diomande and he can't play both sides at once, if any of them at all. I don't have a problem with who we've brought in so far but the number of outgoings in comparison is eye watering. When you look at numbers alone, as it stands now we are short at CB, LB, RB, RW, LW (including cover for those positions) When you look at first team quality, as it stands now we are short at CB, LB, RB, AM, RW When you look at quality players that would help towards a promotion push (and this is debateable), as it stands now I'd say we are short at CB, LB, RB, AM, RW and possibly GK as well... In an ideal world I'd want another striker in as well, providing Hernandez stays.
You said we desperately need an AM. Henriksen and Evandro spent spells of last season injured, Henriksen scored on his debut and never really put a foot wrong. The team as a whole were pretty poor at attacking, probably because every tactic since the SB era has involved an infinite amount of crosses being pumped into the box with no target man. Barring one game, I don't think I saw Evandro play "badly" either, he might not have been world class, but he was tidy in possession and always looking forward. They'll both do well in the Championship.
Evandro is a good AMC in a defensive team If that makes sense. We missed him away from home with his ever lasting injury last year. Yet to see anything from Henriksen and he dangerously represents a cardboard cut out when I've seen him.
In regard of an attacking midfielder does anyone think that they are hoping that progress might be being made mentally with Mason and are holding back. Seems his physical fitness is not an issue, what rehabilitation I wonder is he undergoing to overcome the mental side. Is he still under doctors guidance re the injury...? I know he wont be an immediate option, but perhaps they are working on time frames..
It would be brilliant to have a season of attacking football and break the the City tradition of trying to cling on to one goal leads. Whoever else we get I hope we bring in a quality striker to compete with Hernandez, Campbell and Bowen (Diomande can go).
No more news today I take it. I thought Slutsky said it we would be getting news every day now. For all the speculation we don't even know how many players the Allams are willing to add to this squad. They started last season with a small squad.
We need more than just tidy. Blame who you want but Markus was very poor and Evandro was little better. If we're serious about doing anything this year then we certainly need another.
