The discussion keeps changing in focus IMO

There is no doubt that players like cantona and dicanio had bigger influence on the prem than the likes of Suarez and Gerrard. Simply because they created a mindset that changed how people trained etc in the prem.

Dicanio for instance wore tighter smaller tops and shorts so he couldn't be pulled back or impeded and that became the norm. Cantona and his training impacted on the whole man utd team. That is impact that changed the premier league.

Likes of Suarez are world class but their impact isn't as encompassing as even Zola's.

As for the Gerrard debate, I used to live in Merseyside and have been to the kop with scouse mates many times. Even went to Ian rush testimonial and the truth IMO is that Gerrard is remembered for doing it all in games that he "won", although I wouldn't include the CL final win in that. What gets forgotten is how many games he " lost" trying to do it all. These outweigh the good games by a huge margin. He simply lacked discipline

I recall a game where Micky got injured was subbed, recovered and was subbed back on.

I remember hoddle and his passing, phenomenal but england chose ray Wilkins over him lol

Spoke to ray once and he said it was criminal how he got in over hoddle and said he, ray, was no where near as good as hoddle.

Hoddle was seen as "lazy" <doh>

Anyway, getting back to the OP. Cantona, whilst he was a great player and had a big influence at Utd and on the Premier league, Thierry Henry was a far better player and had a bigger influence on the premier league and the game overall

Roy Keane was one of the most influential individuals in United's dominant era. He was Fergie's henchman, it was his job to play 'good cop, bad cop' in tandem with Fergie.
