Mourinho knew that if he got Gerrard he would dominate the league for years..Lampard was not enough to maintain that.

 

Gerrard did all those things magnificently well.

I'd say between the two theres not much difference. Either you went with a goalscoring machine or someone who offered a bit more all round.

Would go with Scholes, Keane, Vieira over either of those

Torres got onto a few long balls from Gerrard doesn't mean Gerrard has vision. Any reverse passes, cheeky back heels, blind passes. Zidane Ronaldinho etc had these as they have that vision.

Even lampard could drop some longballs on Droggers.

Both very good players and would make a title winning team. World Class not for me.

Gerrard was a sublime passer of the ball, second only to Paul Scholes imo in terms of variety that he had at his disposal (in this league). He was a phenomenal goal scorer from midfield and he was brilliant at firing up the Anfield crowd, but make as many excuses as you like for him, Liverpool were not sloshing around in the relegation zone during Gerrard's time, they were competitive and he never managed to get the job done in this league, even when the trophy was on a plate.

Him and Torres were great, as were him and Suarez, but I'll take my Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's, Louis Saha's and Darren Fletcher's if it's all the same with you because those boys brought home more silver than Blackbeard.

Take a look at the assists from Gerrard they were certainly not long balls, it's only when he moved to Chelsea that he had to deal with those. How did that go?

As for Torres when he moved, he was already past prime Torres because Rafa decided to knacker him and made him play through injury. You are right though, we used him incorrectly as well as they thought they could make him a power player
