Been on the case to our ITKs and it would have to be a massive bid from Hull to get Rico Henry, not just transfer fee but salary package too. Our signings this window seem to suggest we're going to make a serious bid for promotion and so selling Rico Henry is not required barring the conditions I've said. BTW Rico Henry is signed up til 2021.
Unlike Tickles, this guy doesn't wait until 3 weeks after the signing has been done to tell anybody about it.
Ah, right, completely wrong his contract situation (I was confusing him with Jota), we're unlikely to bid enough then.
Would love a good scouting network at city, though has it improved since pennock arrived? Noticed weve started signing a fair few prospects mannion, edwards the lad recently from swansea
We did at one point have a decent scout in Ireland who brought a few youngsters across. Gavan Holohan, Fran McCafferey, Dougie Wilson, Brian Lenihan to name a few. Suppose Lenihan did alright and Wilson was making the cup squads.
Vibe is a more likely target from us. He is 30 years old but 29 goals in 2 championship seasons for us. We'd be sad to see him leave.
We do have a good scouting network, see Robertson, Clucas, Maguire, Odubajo etc. But Brentford do a terrific job for a team without the biggest of budgets but I personally feel that they'll always struggle to compete at the top. All of the relegated teams get £48m in year one from parachute payments which makes it incredibly hard on all the other sides. We should've taken the punt on Odubajo earlier and we should have picked up Bentley too.
In most cases yes. But when the gamble is for EPL wonga like it seems to be this year then the long game is promotion.
Our owner (and life long fan) Matthew Benham's company, Smartodds, helps our recruitment team filter out players of interest from across Europe. We then send the scouts over to see them in person and if still interested will ascertain if their personality will fit in with the club's ethos. Then we'll make a bid. We've now got a reputation for developing players to play at a higher level or "bigger club" with the sell off of the Warburton era squad. In the recent window this meant Neal Maupay chose us over Brighton, Ollie Watkins us over Leeds, and Emiliano Marcondes us over Brondby. All cited the club's ethos and record of development. We Bees fans live in a fortunate time.
