I read it but concluded it was written by an idiot as he made up the man Utd result against Liverpool, got it wrong, then had to go back and edit it after it was published!

You're welcome to think that it's not more impressive. I agree with you.

    Now answer my second question.

Did you think that Jovetic was a more influential footballer in 13/14 than Suarez?

Haven't seen the original, unedited article.

Does make any difference to the point?

No, because he scored THREE goals and made no great difference in City winning the league.

You can keep bringing this up all you like, or if you like quote some other players who have scored a couple of goals in a squad that ultimately won the league, it won't make a difference. You're arguing with yourself as the only comparison I made was a very similar scoring record between Suarez and Ronaldo and one won the league, the other didn't. So, ones influence on the league ended up greater than the others because of that. Simple.

    And factual.

No but it tells me the person that wrote it is probably an office junior...

This is on the article now
This article was amended on 24 July. Eric Cantona’s first match on his return from suspension ended in a draw, not a win, against Liverpool.

Although Cantona is probably the most influential I'd say. Certainly not the best though.

I reckon that if Suarez had that season in a United shirt then you'd agree with me.

Shame, I thought you were more mature than that.

    Sadly not.

His united bias is just far too strong.

It depends what you mean by influence. It's clearly up for debate.

For example, John Terry was a hugely influential player in the Chelsea side. Mainly for what he does off the pitch.

Didn't set the world alight in his playing career (he was very, very good) but if you're going off influence then surely he's right up there?

Gerrard was more influential for Liverpool than Lampard was at Chelsea and he was more of a complete midfielder. Lampard was probably the best box to box midfielder of the premier age.

If Suarez played for United and we won the league then I would yes, because of course those goals had a great influence. Not sure what bit isn't clear?

For all the fact he had two good and one brilliant seasons Suarez will ultimately fade as a fleeting memory in the long term. Had Liverpool won the league that year he'd go down as a great.

    Is that not obvious?

I agree. Gerrard with Liverpool and Terry with Chelsea are two of the most influential footballers of all time with their respective clubs.

Yeah Terry would be up there for sure. So would Gerrard, he hasn't won the league but he singlehandedly won us the CL and FA cup (near enough).

It's a good comparison as Cantona had a similar influence on the team, unfortunately the rest of the team were not comparable to the Utd teams and that's where Cantonas influence won leagues.
