Unless there is a change of stance at the German club, there will be no third bid from the Anfield club for the midfielder. (Paul Joyce)
Liverpool are ready to play the long game in their pursuit of Naby Keita by shelving their interest until next year when the player's supposed £48million release clause kicks in report the Telegraph. The Reds have becoming increasingly pessimistic over their chances of concluding the long-running transfer saga this summer and are now preparing to put their plans on hold.
We do need another midfielder but in theory Hendo is back to fitness and Can is fully fit. Cout is now a midfield option so we have Hendo & Can for DM role. lallana & Cout for creativity. Gini for energy/all round solidness. Not too short on numbers there. Yeah quality could be improved on but 5 first teamers for 3 roles is decent competition to start with.
In theory yes. The practical issue is that heel of hendersons could go 5 games in. I really could easily happen so then you are relying on Can all season to play every game. As you've said one of lallana and coutinho but not both v top teams as we could get ripped up there. So Wijnaludm is the sole box to box and even at that a slight convert from more attacking midfield. You need grujic to step up to fill in here... We are short one. You mentioned quality and really for me.... henderson at DM... ok... but only ok. he can pass but can he read and interecpt stuff as good as we need? he's in his prime years now so its as good as it gets. coutino at no 8... i think he is going to be absolutely brilliant. So the othe rbox to box CM is going to have to do a LOT.. and for me i worry about wijnaludm away.. i really do. i think he vanishes Grujic if he came on strong and moved the ball faster might get the not. I think he's got some talent there. ... but is he ready? Can could play box to box but not all the time.
Meh. We still need that CB though. Still short of meet on the bones. Couple of injuries then we look short again. Salah and the Chelsea lad look promising but atm we look good going forward but relatively poor at the back. We are going to have to bludgeon teams to death and outscore them again. Can we cope with teams playing deep and countering us? Atm I can't see us finishing higher than last year but you never know.
The moment that the BBC published that we are set to sign VVD, our transfer window started to fizzle out. It's annoying because for the first time in a long time we have shown some ambition to go for top quality and it hasn't paid off (as of yet and I'm uncertain that it will now). I've become so blinkered with us getting Keith and VVD, that I don't know who is out there and not only that, anyone we do sign will feel like a downgrade (whether they are or not remains to be seen).
He's ready to get sent off a lot, he's certainly got a nasty streak or maybe just youthfull enthusiasm that needs reeling in.
I think going forward we will be good. I think we are slightly unbalanced in numbers.. .with one too many central players and none too few wide players. I would like an origi/ings to be a wide forward. Woodburn is not a wide forward... and i think kent and wilson will be farmed out. I think in midfield we would be trusting a little to luck with what we have. Henderson's foot could go IMO and grujic would have to come through to make this work I think in defence we are well dodgy. We need that CB. the Lb slot who knows... god really only knows what will occur there. At GK IMO karius has started preseason looking dodgy as **** and i sincerely HOPE klopp starts mingolet and he is at the same level as last three months of season last year. so..... We would need a fair wind and a bit of luck right now imo. I think we need more balance, i think we need a bit of depth but that defense is ****e. My top 3 things to watch are: 1. Coutinho in midifeld. could deleiver 10-15 goals plus a ton of assists 2. Mane and salah up front. pace and direct runnoing for firmino and coutinho to pass to. 3. Breakout youth. TAA I think has already developed since last year, looks stronger and i think could take the RB slot at some point in year. Grujic might be the guy in CM if he gets a few chances and Gomez and woodburn and solanke will be looking for a few chances in the cups. think about this: TAA, Grujic, woodburn, Gomez, wilson and solanke could be the basis of our League cup team this season. I for one would not be too worried about that. the more senior bodies like klavan and karius fill me with dread but a side with those yuong lads could be decent enough Karius Taa Gomez Klavan robertson Grujic Can Woodburn Wilson Solanke ings this could be the league cup 3rd round team. the weak links are in bold My first team would be: Mingolet Clyne Matip NEW CB Milner wijnaldum Henderson Coutinho mane Firmino Salah Karius TAA Gomez Lovren Robertson Lallana Can Grujic Woodburn Origi Sturridge you can see from second side the issue of balance. while the firsts look solid if a new CB comes in the thing starts to fall apart in the front line with shape and i start relying on a woodbrun at his age as we have central strikers but little means to support them. If we got that one more CM to go withthe CB i'd be happy. the obvious ticket is what klopp wants. But we know VVD and Kieta are very unlikely. If we don't get a CB we will not acheive much as that defence is not up to it.
true but in the prem you can get away with that a bit. You can manage that. He certainly kicked that palace lad in retribution last week. I would say not many will mess with him once word gets out. But equally refs will be watching. Thankfully he doesn't look like he has the gob to get himself in more trouble as well. he is keen to impress at bare minimum right now.
