You said you agreed with ref's decision - the first one or the second?

Same applies........I find it quite easy to say yes or no regardless of the teams involved.

Then of course you have the 'well I've seen them given' type............but that non penalty in the women's game was a good decision.
What the free-kick the other way was for is less clear [/QUOTE]

Anyway - Jodie Taylor again, and that girl Houghton can ****ing head a ball. I said two years ago that the goal Taylor scored against Canada (?) was as good as a striker's goal as it gets. That said, just as in the men's game, the Spanish just passed the **** out of them. Unlike the men's game though, the Spanish not having an out-and-out striker meant Houghton's back line restricted them to one chance in the first minutes - after that they just didn't look like scoring, even for the non-pen.

Tournament football: if you have a class act like Taylor (and the Spanish, for all their skillful players just didn't) you can win games 'ugly', and that is totally necessary.

You don't get to play for a draw and hope the opponent misses 4 pens in the PL <ok>

predicuted line ups for next year:

    Arsneal:

    Cech
    Bellarin mustafi Kosceilny Kolasinac
    Ramsey Xahka Ozi
    walcott :bandit: Lacazette Sanchez

seems to me Arsenal might be in the maket for a RF. (lemar)

    chelsea

    courtois
    azpi Luiz Rudiger
    Moses Kante Bakayoko alonso
    Pedro Morata Hazard

you'd have thought a new RWB would have been sought?

    Man city:

    ederson
    Walker stones :bandit: Kompany Mendy
    de bruyne Gundogan silva
    Bernadro silva Jesus Sane

still a work in progress? Full backs yeah... cb not so much. Midfield? lots of goals but could be walked over at times

    Man Utd

    De Gea
    valencia Bailly Lindelof Shaw :bandit:
    pogba Herrara
    Mkhitaryan Mata Martial
    Lukaku
no wonder mourinho is so unhappy. and will prob play sideshow bob at LW and lump it at him again .He is at least 3 players shy of wher ehe would want to be here. Mata, Matrial and shw would not be his players IMO

    Tottenham

    Lloris
    trippier alderweirld Vertonghen Rose
    Wanyama dembele
    Erikson Alli Son
    Kane

somethings not right at spurs. Is the stadium sucking the finances? They will have to rely on luck and a very solid first 11 IMO cos they will be in toruble is kane gets injured.

    Everton:

    Pickford
coleman (but when?) Williams Keane baines
    Schneiderlin Gueye
    Mirallas?/barkley? Klaasen Bolaise?
    Rooney?
I can see why they really want siggurdsson and giroud now... solid platform there but awful going forward. I struggled to figure out who would play wide and who would play up top really.. rooney? nah c'mon.

this reminds me of times unde rmoyes where tim cahill was the main man but they were mean at the back.

    ...............................................................

    thoughts? comments?

If i were picking main top 4 candidates out of this I would have to say: cheslea and arsenal look a well rounded side. City and utd have work to do. Spurs have a very good team but lack depth.

I think it will be very close this year. nobody has the excuse with 5 team in cl of no europe (but everton) and Arsneal have the advantage of europa football but it takes its toll.

I think right now LFC achilles heel will be defence and dropping points to **** teams as per but we can compete. I don't see the total package out there this season but i see chelsea and arsenal as best equipped to be challenging right now

I think city are worse than utd on this viewing. i can see why mourinho is upset but he's got plenty of options. for me city need to do some more work. they will be good going forward but defensively they might struggle.

It could be a VERY interesting season for all and very tight going into the run in.

I reckon wenger will stick to 3-4-3.

I would say City are looking super strong. I would be very surprised to see Chelsea retain the title but i'm not putting anything past Conte since he seems to excel at the league (4 titles in a row) and doesn't seem that strong in the big games (not bad but not excellent ala Rafa). He knows how to roll the **** teams over and thats the most important part.

For some reason i don't think Everton will start well but i think Koeman will whip them into shape after a while. They just need to have patience with him.

For you guys Salah is an excellent addition and you'll be even more dangerous in the big games. Obviously Coutinho can play a bit deeper but i just wonder how things will change for you boys by having another fast pacy winger when teams deliberately sit deep and hit you on the counter. Theoretically you should be better off as coutinho is deeper and able to dictate play more and salah should give you more width. I just feel you will be even more open and you haven't resolved your defensive issues to the counter or set pieces.

also on everton i agree. they will need ot integrate a lot of guys but the 3 guys bought have been bought early enough to be integrated. the other signings IMO ae not that good to be first team starters there so as I said i am wondering where goals will come from sans lukaku (not that he ever mattered according to some... or one...) so I think he will whip them into shape as you said and they will be solid. With a solid base you can progress.

I'm not sure on city. I think they've bought where they were terribly weak yes... full backs and GK but central defence is an issue potentially... I can't figure out if they will fly or be a bit soft.

Cheslea... lets be frank, you've more games now with CL so you won't get a flyer IMO and be able to control thereafter but I do think you have the most complete 11, barring moses maybe. So i think you and arsenal will be up there. If you say city ok... then that leaves spurs, lfc and utd fighting for 4th.

Spurs i find odd this summer. thye are very solid, are all together but blew CL last year and so far are in the same depending on 2 players and no injuries scenario. I would be worried slightly for them if they have bad luck but I would think they are very capable 11 indeed.. very much its NOW for spurs and they must deliver something. Wembly home games could hurt them badly.

having see us in preseason my opinion is we will be brilliant going forward and will cut up those deep lying sides with directness and actually getting in box... BUT at the back we are a shambles so far. for me coutinho deeper is fine as he went there anyway and left us light in the front 3 a lot. put him there all game and let the fast two run at sides to get in behind and we are gold. The issue will be we cannot defend even with 11 back and klopp is once again insisting that karious is not a clown without a red nose... Literally he is the pits. I've not seen much worse than this guy since westerveld. (and sander won stuff with us)

Do you think you will struggle a bit for goals?

We're still to replace Lukaku and we definitely will before the window shuts. So the answer to that depends on who we bring in. If it's Benteke I'll ****ing weep.

Well.... it would be a guy who can head a ball like... we all know he was good once.

I think that siggurdsson one now makes sense after i finally took an actual look. I don't see a great set of wide players to supply a giroud... or a benteke there right now. Are you going to buy a winger?

You don't see rooney as the main option thankfully.... I could not image a 4231 (koeman seems to like that) with him on his own.

We've already got Mirallas, Lookman, Lennon to play as wide attacking players, but most of the width in a 4-2-3-1 comes from the fullbacks anyway.

    I can see us lining us with;

    Pickford
    Holgate, Keane, Williams, Baines

    Schneirderlin, Gueye

    Klaassen, Rooney, Sigurdsson

    AN other

Sigurdsson wide and Rooney going missing all over the pitch means Klaassen's going to have to cover huge ground
