It's a fine line and it will be different from player to player. If we're confident we can ride the storm, and VVD (and Bertrand if he's veering down the same path) will just knuckle down for the season a la messrs Schneiderlin, Wanyama and Mane then we should keep them. If however they're as big a twats as Lovren or the little twat that ruined his career sulking at West Brom, then we should try and get as much money as possible for them. Not as straightforward as that, and as Mauricio says the team are more important. Never a dull moment. At least if he goes to Liverpool it just keeps all the twats in one place.

I don't know if we are really. We don't need to sell him in the sense that we are not needing the money. We can play the season without him we already know that from last season. We don't need to pay a player who won't play for us. We actually don't have to do anything expect forget about him. Probably in 4 years time he will realise his career is in tatters as he sits sucking his dummy in our reserves. Isn't it a world cup year coming up too? Surely we hold all the power?

Whilst they did a sterling job last season, they cannot be considered as starting CB's for the start of the season. VVD is acting like a typical prima dona footballer of this era. Saints have got to act fast on this. Make him hand a transfer request in, then get top dollar, or stop acting like a twat and do what youre paid handsomely to do.
