    Thursday July 20

14:44: Liverpool are drawing up contingency plans in case Naby Keita remains at RB Leipzig.

Liverpool have had two bids for Keita rejected and are hoping a deal this week can be agreed.

But manager Jurgen Klopp will not hang around for ever as the Reds line up a third offer worth £70m.

And the Liverpool Echo claim Klopp will begin to look at other options if it becomes apparent that Keita won't be signed.

The club have also distanced themselves from claims the 22-year-old midfielder's agent has headed out to Hong Kong, where Liverpool are on their pre-season tour.

13:40: This isn’t transfer news but we feel you Liverpool fans need to see it.

Stuart Manley, who hit -2 in the first round of The Open today, has labelled former Reds striker Craig Bellamy a “horrible git”.

Manley, the world No 520, played football as a teenager before deciding to take a golf scholarship at West Florida University before turning pro.

He said: “I played against Michael Owen, his position came up against my position, and Craig Bellamy a couple of times.

“I shouldn't really say it, but he was a bit of a horrible git Bellamy. He was nasty. He was a horrible little…

“I was centre half, and he was a striker, I gave him a few kicks and he wasn't happy. He was just like that all the time. Michael, I don't remember very much about. I've got the program in the house. We were both very young.”

nothing but the truth spoken there... owen instantly forgettable and bellers was a complete ****. we all knew it. he was the type.... always in an opponents face, he was a bit wild off the park too. that kind of in your face playr is no harm at all but it took a long time for him to calm down off the park to make much of his career

He was also very charitable (and not the kind that does it to get kudos... He does a lot of charity work without fanfare). And Bellamy was also very driven and hard-working.

A bit of an enigma he was. On one hand he's the twat that whacks Riise with a golf club because he didn't want to do kareoke and constantly cussing at rivals and referees. On the other hand he's a hard working deeply caring individual.

Bellamy was a good little player the 2nd time around. Seemed to mature a bit but still have that bit of nasty streak that gave him an edge.

I remember being on a management course at Elland Rd @ a decade ago. The final afternoon was a tour around the ground and speech and question time from John Mclelland. He was ****ing fantastic (big fan of Liverpool and the 80's team, btw).

From what he said, competitive, top league football is all about big, hard CB's, no matter how elegant they try to appear (he reckoned Rio was as dirty as they come, and he said that as a compliment) finding any weakness or deficiency in opposing forwards (and teammates during training - he said it was his duty to harden them up).

Perhaps the the most spiteful forward I've seen was Suarez - but hey, ho, it's ****ing Darwin in action out there.

No wonder this feller didn't cut the mustard if a gobshite like Bellers got inside his head. These are the type of 'pro's' Ronny Moran used to duff up to try and shake them out of their 'niceness'. It's Realfussball chaps, get a ****ing grip you big girl (or that may be outdated when you see the Lionesses getting stuck in without asking for mercy).

AFCON has been moved to June-July so no more worries about losing players during middle of season anymore. Very good for us, hopefully doesn't cause too much issue for the game in Africa.

No need to worry about Salah and Mane to disappear and completely disrupt our flow!

With 24 countries in now that's just under half of all countries (54) in Africa so I would say it will be a different style of competition now.

“I left and went back to my room. I was rooming with Daniel Agger.

“When I heard the key in the door I thought it was Dan coming back but then the lights went on.

“Next thing I saw was a golf club smashing me on my backside.

Could do with more of a gentle warm up...

Daily mail - Barca bid £72m for Coutinho and will not be put off by any reds rejection.

Just signed a new deal and is key player. No chance he'll go unless £100m is offered which I don't see Barca doing as he's not at that level on a consistent basis.
