Funny reading the comments. It's like people forget that it probably takes longer to get to / from the stations than it does time on the train! And handily forget that there isn't actually a train sat waiting for you the moment you arrive. It might be less than 2 hours on a train, but more like 4-5 hours or so for most door to door!! . Norwich - nice City and near nice coast (north!), but yep, really isolated, More so than Hull. At least Hull is only an hour from York / Leeds. Wouldn't be most people's first choice, but there are more isolated places, and a lot worse places. We've attracted sufficient over the years to prove it's not that big a problem. Anyway .... signings?
It is a bit isolated. It's still a trek to the next half decent city (Leeds or Newcastle). Newcastle is a busy place with a lot going on. Hull is a decent local city but not a lot going for it for pro footballers, their ridiculous wages and lavish lifestyles. That said I doubt if many of them live in or around Hull anyway, most probably commute from Leeds or that area. Norwich is far more isolated and I don't remember them having many billy big bollocks. Mostly also rans and punts.
Thudd said if he'd been offered a better deal sooner by city instead of last minute? He'd have signed it! Doesn't say much for derby does it?
Seemed a strange quote from him. If the offer was there does it really matter when it was offered as he was still under contract anyway, and like you said doesn't say a lot for derby
why do you think it doesnt matter when the offer was made? if City dont make an offer then Derby do and only then do City make an offer dont you think that would piss off a player?
The way I understood it is had city offered him a contract a couple of weeks ago he'd have signed it. He said the Derby thing happened quickly and once he knew about it he wanted to go back despite city making a last minute offer. Seems farenough a lot of players want to play for their hometown clubs barmby, deano etc
Now we're cultured I bet it's on a par with London as favourable destinations for players to come to. Surely?
We should offer all or players an improved contract every year until they're all on £300k a week, then we should sell them to teams like derby.
