Morata now to Chelsea for £60m. Real Madrid is such a k**t club! They messed up the move for what the guy really wanted. Now they are forced to sell for much less. I am very glad that we told them to fk off, but I'm not happy we missed out on Morata.
I knew Real Madrid wanted to sell all along, and the fact they are now panic selling him to Chelsea now we are off the scene proves this. They themselves haven't signed anyone major yet, which says to me they are needing this deal to go through so they can fund a deal for someone like MBappe. Even though Real have won so much in recent years, their wage bill is ridiculous so not suprising they are needing to offload a few. I don't think it's worked out badly for us though, I think in Lukaku we have a more complete forward than Morata. He's quicker and more physical for me, and can make things happen for himself more. Where as Morata is an out and poacher.
We were essentially trying to buy their fringe player - albeit, a very good player; but they got greedy. They thought they could hold us at a ransom. In the end, they got desperate as King mentioned and Chelsea took full advantage given the desperation on their end to coverup for Lukaku's situation. Lukaku would still be my first option as he would offer something that we don't currently have. With Rashford's development maintained, I think we would have very good options up front. If we can get Martial up front should we get Ivan, I'll be happy with the attacking options.
It seems that the Perisic deal may now not go through. As I suspected clubs get very greedy when dealing with United. They won't budge as they think United will ultimately give in. Real, Inter and even Everton take an intransigent line. Real are scumbags who will only sell to United at a premium: Rodriguez and Morata are just recent examples. Perisic, Matic, naingollam, are looking less likely now.
Can't say I'm overly bothered. Perisic always seemed unnecessary when we already have Martial so no worries there. I would also like Tuanzebe and/or Fosu Mensah given the chance at DCM. Plus, we already have Blind and Carrick.
